    3. Today I found a classified ad placed by Mehitable (BELL) WHITE in the "Portsmouth Oracle" newspaper which establishes that she was very much alive on Feb 3, 1807. . . . Classified ad in the "Portsmouth Oracle", paper dated 14 Feb 1807, Vol XVIII, issue 20, p4. "All persons that have demands against the Estate of John SIMPSON, late of New Castle, mariner, deceased, are requested to present their Accounts to the Subscriber for settlement -- And all indebted to said Estate are desired to make immediate payment to --Mehitable WHITE, Administratrix of said estate. New Castle - Feb 3, 1807" I also checked and found no death notice for Mehitable in the same newspaper between that Feb 1807 announcement and the end of April 1808. If Mehitable's husband, William Cooper WHITE, married his second wife Sarah MITCHELL before the birth of son Isaac in 1808 we are cutting things *pretty* close..... What documentation do you have that Isaac was really born as early as 1808? Could Mehitable have been his mother instead of Sarah?? ~ Carolyn Depp

War Pension file, (I have a copy) he had a son aged 14 in 1820 (born abt. 1806). According to the Portsmouth Journal dated 12 Apr 1845, his son was born 1808. I probably have a copy of that in my files if you want me to look for it and make a copy. Carol

    3. I would appreciate a copy of William C. WHITE's Rev. War Pension file, if it doesn't prove too difficult to locate in your records. A transcript of the "Portsmouth Journal" entry dated 12 Apr 1845 would also be helpful for my documentation--I'm assuming that this latter is an obituary for son Isaac WHITE? I thought it might be helpful if I listed what little I know about all children (so far uncovered) of William C. WHITE from both of his marriages: From lst marriage to Mehitable BELL = 1. Mary C. WHITE - who married Thomas C. BEAL [You are my primary source for her] 2. Thomas B. WHITE - born 11 Aug 1803; died 22 Nov 1879 Source: Death record, Vital Records of New Castle, NH (from Town Clerk vol 13). FHL #989,196 - Item 4 (1878-1896) "Thomas B. WHITE, born 11 Aug 1803 at New Castle); died 22 Nov 1879 at New Castle, age 76y,3m,11d, Married, Fisherman, son of William C. WHITE (of New Castle) and Mehitabel BELL (of New Castle). Cause of death = 'softening of brain'." [I have a research note that "Couple had 5 children" - but no further source nor details] From 2nd marriage to Sarah MITCHELL = 3. Isaac WHITE - The only sources I had for him, prior to my correspondence with you, was the following: Portsmouth, NH Church Records, New Hampshire Historical Society. Records of the Church of Christ 1761-1835, vol 1, p172. "Marriages" FHL #15572 - Item 1 "Isaac WHITE & Rebecca TREADICK, both of New Castle, md 18 Sep 1831" His marrige is also in: "New England Vital Records from the Exeter News-Letter, 1831 - 1840", by Scott Chipman. "Isaac WHITE md Rebecca TREDICK 18 Sep 1831 at Portsmouth, NH" 4.-6. I also show--based on your comments re William's Rev War Pension file--that William and Sarah also had two more daughters and another son. Any others that you are aware of? ~ Carolyn Depp ----- Original Message ----- From: "Carol White" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Thursday, March 23, 2006 7:32 PM Subject: [NHROCKIN] Mehitable (BELL) WHITE > Hi Carolyn, > > According to William C.
