Sorry to be so delayed in my response to our joint discussion of the various Thomas BEALs and the connections with Mary C. WHITE, Grace & Rebecca YEATON, etc. Had to put my research on a back-burner for a bit.... I think the "key" to whether or not the Thomas BEAL (call him #1) who married Mary C. WHITE and the Thomas BEAL (call him #2) who married Grace YEATON are the same individual is whether or not there is any evidence that Mary C. WHITE died before 1827. Do any of you have any evidence one way or the other on this?? Carol, documentation for the marriage of Thomas (#2)--in addition to the reference you found in the Rev. War pension summary--is as follows: New Castle, NH Town Records, Vol 3 (1756-1858), p148. FHL #15240. "Mr. Thomas BEALS & Miss Grace YEATON, both of New Castle, publ and cert given - 5 Jan 1827" Apparently Thomas (#2) died before Summer 1840, because he is not on US 1840 Census of New Castle, NH when wife Grace is shown as head of household, and not shown later on the US 1860 Census of New Castle, NH with wife (probably widow) Grace and dau Abby. The date for his death which you found in the Rev.War pension summary, Carol, fits nicely with this assumption: 26 Apr 1831. The BEAL(S) family is only rather collateral to me, as my main concerns are the BELL, AMAZEEN, MELOON, YEATON, etc. lines. But these New Castle area families are so "tangled" that you really have to research them all to get anything straightened out. I find I had two children for "Thomas BEAL" (not the Jr.) and wonder now if the first one, "Mary", might actually be a daughter of the "Thomas #1" marriage and only the second, Abigail, be the daughter of the "Thomas #2" marriage. (Her 1823 birthdate is further evidence that Grace YEATON's husband had a previous wife and/or relationship...) (1) Mary J. BEAL, born 20 Aug 1823 at New Castle, NH; died 18 Oct 1869 at New Castle, NH; married 9 Oct 1845 at New Castle, NH to William A. MELOON (1823-1891), son of William Amazeen MELOON and Mary Elizabeth LEAR. She was a "Seamstress". Sources: MARRIAGE: New Castle Town Records, Vol 3 (1756-1858). Apparently Thomas (#2) died before Summer 1840, because he is not on US 1840 Census of New Castle, NH when wife Grace is shown as head of household, and not shown later on the US 1860 Census of New Castle, NH with wife (probably widow) Grace and dau Abby. The date for his death which you found in the Rev.War pension summary, Carol, fits nicely with this assumption: 26 Apr 1831. There was a small error in the above statement. I found Thomas' date of death in the "Index to War of 1812 Pension Files" by Virgil White. NOT in the Rev. War pension summary. Sorry (2) Abigail A. The record of Abigail BEAL's second marriage to John AMAZEEN gives evidence that her previous marriage was to a "TARLTON". (See * items, below): MARRIAGE: (2) Vital Records of New Castle, NH (from Town Clerk vol 13). FHL #989,196 - Item 4 (1878-1896) "John AMAZEEN of New Castle, Pilot, b. New Castle, *2nd marriage*, d/o Thomas BEAL and [mother deceased]" The only documentation I have that her first husband was the "John TARLTON" , who was the son of Capt. Elias TARLTON and Abby J. YEATON, and was born at New Castle, NH on 29 Sept 1828 and died 4 May 1863 at sea off the coast of Nova Scotia is from: "New Castle Families", by Louise Tarlton.
