I've "rescued" a group of ROOD Family photographs including two old photographs of George ROOD, both taken at studios in Chicago, Illinois. The first photograph was probably taken in the 1870's with George appearing to be in his 20's or 30's. The second photograph was taken in the 1880's with George likely in his 30's or 40's at the time. The third photograph in the group is one of Alice ROOD taken at the Fowler Studio in Evanston, IL. The photograph was probably taken in the early 1900's with Alice appearing to be 4-5 years old at the time it was taken. The fourth photograph was taken at a home in Rye Beach, New Hampshire and notes that Lucy BROWN spent one summer with Louise N. ROOD and her Mother and Father. Lucy BROWN is pictured to the right of the tree in the photograph and Louise N. ROOD is seated on the left. This is a group photograph likely taken in the 1880's with the two identified woman appearing to be in their teens or 20's at the time. Based on limited research and thanks to the assistance of a ROOD Family Researcher I was able to locate some information for this family. I believe that both George and Louise N. ROOD were siblings, the children of James & Martha ROOD who were all living in Chicago, IL during the 1870 census: James ROOD, age 50, born NY Martha ROOD, age 46, Keeping House, born DE Geo W. ROOD, age 22, Store Clerk, born IL Louise N. ROOD, age 19, born IL James W. WOOD, age 16, born IL Catherine SWIFT, age 25, Domestic, born Ireland I believe that Alice ROOD pictured in the photograph is the daughter of James W. ROOD the younger brother of George and Louise ROOD. Alice and her family along with her Grandparents and Aunt are recorded in the 1900 census of Evanston, IL living next door to each other as follows: James ROOD, age 80, born Apr 1820, married 56 years, born NY, parents born CT Martha ROOD, wife, age 75, born June 1824, married 56 years, 5 children/2 living, born DE, parents born England/DE Louise N. ROOD, dau, age 49, born Feb 1851, born IL Louise NELSON, servant, age 36, born Jan 1864, born Sweden, parents born Sweden, to USA 1886, a Domestic Annie OLSSON, servant, age 30, born Mar 1870, born Sweden, parents born Sweden, to USA 1876, a Nurse Annie ERICKSON, servant, age 23, born May 1877, born Sweden, parents born Sweden, to USA 1892, a Domestic James ROOD Jr., age 46, born Feb 1854, married 9 years, born IL, parents born NY/DE, a Real Estate Agent Isabell I. ROOD, wife, age 41, born Oct 1858, married 9 years, 2 children/2 living, born IL, parents born Ireland James I. ROOD, son, age 7, born Oct 1892, born IL Alice I. ROOD, dau, age 3, born Feb 1887, born IL Celia MCHALE, servant, age 45, born May 1855, born Ireland, parents born Ireland, to USA 1879 I'm hoping to locate someone from this ROOD family so that these wonderful old photographs can be returned to their care.
