Not sure it will help but will do some checking with the names you gave me. My Betsy (also called Elizabeth and Betty) was a daughter of Edward & Elizabeth HILTON. She married John SMART in or about 1760, they had at least two children Hilton & John and probably more. John died in 1774. There are few records back during that time period and I have not found anything on her untill I find her name on a lease of half of her son John's property in 1795. Hi again The first John Smart arrived from England in 1635, and took up residency in NH( Hampton). That he was probably the ancestor of your John, is very probable. The Hilton family was in the same vicinity, so this might just be a case of track down, not up, the genealogy chart. Sometimes, it works. There are many records of the early immigrants, and that might be a clue.
