    2. Snowbound, What was the answer? Someone must have given you an answer, but off-list. I'd be interested also since my BOYD, DARRAH and McKEEN families were in that area in the early 1740's. What Darrah family are you related too? Colin Brooks

    1. ROOD Family Photographs with connection to BROWN Family of Rye Beach
    2. Shelley Cardiel
    3. I've "rescued" a group of ROOD Family photographs including two old photographs of George ROOD, both taken at studios in Chicago, Illinois. The first photograph was probably taken in the 1870's with George appearing to be in his 20's or 30's. The second photograph was taken in the 1880's with George likely in his 30's or 40's at the time. The third photograph in the group is one of Alice ROOD taken at the Fowler Studio in Evanston, IL. The photograph was probably taken in the early 1900's with Alice appearing to be 4-5 years old at the time it was taken. The fourth photograph was taken at a home in Rye Beach, New Hampshire and notes that Lucy BROWN spent one summer with Louise N. ROOD and her Mother and Father. Lucy BROWN is pictured to the right of the tree in the photograph and Louise N. ROOD is seated on the left. This is a group photograph likely taken in the 1880's with the two identified woman appearing to be in their teens or 20's at the time. Based on limited research and thanks to the assistance of a ROOD Family Researcher I was able to locate some information for this family. I believe that both George and Louise N. ROOD were siblings, the children of James & Martha ROOD who were all living in Chicago, IL during the 1870 census: James ROOD, age 50, born NY Martha ROOD, age 46, Keeping House, born DE Geo W. ROOD, age 22, Store Clerk, born IL Louise N. ROOD, age 19, born IL James W. WOOD, age 16, born IL Catherine SWIFT, age 25, Domestic, born Ireland I believe that Alice ROOD pictured in the photograph is the daughter of James W. ROOD the younger brother of George and Louise ROOD. Alice and her family along with her Grandparents and Aunt are recorded in the 1900 census of Evanston, IL living next door to each other as follows: James ROOD, age 80, born Apr 1820, married 56 years, born NY, parents born CT Martha ROOD, wife, age 75, born June 1824, married 56 years, 5 children/2 living, born DE, parents born England/DE Louise N. ROOD, dau, age 49, born Feb 1851, born IL Louise NELSON, servant, age 36, born Jan 1864, born Sweden, parents born Sweden, to USA 1886, a Domestic Annie OLSSON, servant, age 30, born Mar 1870, born Sweden, parents born Sweden, to USA 1876, a Nurse Annie ERICKSON, servant, age 23, born May 1877, born Sweden, parents born Sweden, to USA 1892, a Domestic James ROOD Jr., age 46, born Feb 1854, married 9 years, born IL, parents born NY/DE, a Real Estate Agent Isabell I. ROOD, wife, age 41, born Oct 1858, married 9 years, 2 children/2 living, born IL, parents born Ireland James I. ROOD, son, age 7, born Oct 1892, born IL Alice I. ROOD, dau, age 3, born Feb 1887, born IL Celia MCHALE, servant, age 45, born May 1855, born Ireland, parents born Ireland, to USA 1879 I'm hoping to locate someone from this ROOD family so that these wonderful old photographs can be returned to their care. If you are a member of this family, or know someone who might be, please contact me. Thanks, Shelley

Fay arrived in Merrimack County about 1877, but soon moved to Rockingham County. He may have returned to Merrimack County before his death. I would like to find out what births, marriages and deaths might be recorded for FAY in Rockingham County between 1877 and 1910. Charles married Sarah E. Wilson in MA . In New Hampshire, his daughter Anna M. married Daniel Hutchinson and his daughter Sarah (Sadie) E. married Elbridge Boyce. His sons Loren (Loring) and Irving (Erwin), and his grandson George Herbert all married in this time frame; I'd like to have the full name of the wives. His daughter Mabel, the only one born in NH, either married or died between 1880 and 1900. I would really appreciate any leads / information. Thanks!

    1. Re: [NHROCKIN] Family Tree Maker Guru
    2. Hi, I generally put everything that I type into the notes section. When I tried putting things into facts, medical, etc. I would forget about it and not be able to find it or would get annoyed with having to tab through all of the headings to see all of the information I have. It also takes up more space when printing out the information when you use the other sections. I even put my sources in the notes. For me, it is easier having everything there. I do still use the source application so that I have a bibliography of my sources, but I like to also have it in the notes so it is all easy to find. Pictures, scanned obits, deeds, etc. I put in the scrapbook. Oh, I do all caps for first names of direct descendants - it makes it easy to see who is direct in the index, reports and list of children on family pages. It beeps at you and tells you that you have too many capitals, but just hit okay or ignore and it works. If you do all caps for the last name in the parents boxes, you have to adjust every child for that family which is why I just do the first names. Lianne Mitchell
