    1. Daniel Lucas of Nottingham
    2. Michele Stepto
    3. Dear Rockingham County Researchers--thanks to all who helped me with my recent query about the will of Daniel Lucas of Nottingham. I was able to get a copy of his will, written in 1733 and proved in 1734 in Nottingham (see below). I'd like to find out more about this Daniel, who most likely came to Nottingham from Pembroke Mass (Plymouth colony) and may have been an original proprietor of Nottingham, and about his antecedents as well as his children. Five children (sons James, Thomas, Andrew, John & William, and dgtr Jean who m. Neal M'Gaghe/McGaffey aka Andrew Miller) are mentioned in the will, as well as a granddgtr, Mary Randell. His wife at the time of his death was Barbara. I believe that my 4th great grandfather, James Lucas, of Vershire VT (born in 1744), may be the son of one of Daniel's sons (perhaps James), since many of Vershire's earliest settlers came from Rockingham County. Any and all help with the family of Daniel Lucas will be greatly appreciated.
