    3. Questions and concerns regarding issues such as this should be sent to the listowner, Dick Marston, directly, not to the list. Apparently he is not available right now, but I'm sure he will be happy to address this himself as soon as possible. 3. The other big plus about Glenn's posting of the Danville VRs is that they will now be available in the list archives. This means that anyone, at any time in the future, who uses "Danville" (or any of the names included) to search the NHROCKIN-L archives at http://searches.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/listsearch.pl will find the records. This posting, and postings of other town records, can be great benefit to people both now and in the future. The listowner has the final say-so on the VR posting; and, unless he objects, I say keep 'em comin'! Gail wishing everyone a joyful Merry Christmas from icy East Texas

    3. I would like to add my voice to those supporting Glenn's efforts. I have found some of my surnames in Glenn's data and even though I haven't had time to find out if it is information I didn't already have, I am saving it for later and appreciate Glenn posting it for all to read. Even if I find nothing of help, I will appreciate him trying to help. This list is *not* simply a place to ask questions and get answers. It is a place to share information with those who have the same research interests as you. Merry Christmas to all, Jack W. Ido find a Martha J. WOODBURY listed as the daughter of Samuel WOODBURY and Louisa J. Baker, born Sept 24, 1838 Shall I send you more information? Are we on the right track? Merry Christmas Sue Lang Am looking for the parents of Sidney E. Welch, born 1861 in Derry, NH (may have grown-up in Londonderry), lived as an adult in Ayers Village and died 1941 in Haverhill, Ma. 3. Has anyone researched the COTTLE family from the Rockingham and Strafford County area? I have two references to Elizabeth (Betsey) COTTLE that are very important to my LANGLEY family research. 1) Records of the South Church in Portsmouth indicate she married David Langley on 25JUN 1776. 2) The LIBBY family genealogy indicate that John LIBBY, m. 3FEB1803, Sally LANGLEY, do. David and Betsey (COTTLE) LANGLEY of Rochester, NH. I'm seeking any information or advice for determining the family group of David and Betsey (COTTLE) LANGLEY. The LANGLEY and LIBBY information I've checked so far has not helped. On to the COTTLE family information. Thanks in advance for any insight. Paul Reed preed@mediaone.net

    3. Dear Laird, In response to your concern for the information I am entering. If I am out of order please remove me from this roots-l. I feel sharing information is the VITAL reason for these forums. If one doesn't want to look there, there is a delete key with one stroke that can resolve your anguish. As for your suggestion of it on the verge of being a spam. I resent your suggestion and you should review what spam is before implying and showing negative animosity. I don't know your real reason for wanting this flow of information to stop but why did you become an internet user in the first place if it wasn't for this exact reason? If there is another forum that this information should possibly go to I would be happy to send it there. Again, please let me know if I am out of order. And yes Laird it is WELL INTENTIONED. 2. Hi All: My understanding of the purpose of this mailing list is that it is intended to be a place for subscribers to post genealogical problems so that other subscribers can help them. In other words, it should consist of questions and answers. I don't wish to be the grinch who stole Christmas, but it does not seen to me that this mailing list is a suitable place to republish enmass the Danville Vital Records, or any other such material publishished or unpublished, except in response to particular questions from other list members. If we all started publishing the Rockingham County material we have at hand, the list would soon be clogged with unneeded and unwanted emails which, it seems to me, verge on being spam. Am I along in feeling this is a diversion, albeit well intentioned, from our real intent? Laird Towle

    3. Well to start off there is a comment that goes as follows: "1772 TILTON Genealogy page 252 gives Josiah Tilton b. Jan. 7, 1772, but does not give Hannah as being b. Sept. 9, 1772. Rev. John Page give the date of death of Josiah as Jan. 7, 1772. Town records give the date of birth for Josiah as Feb. 23 or 25, 1768." To all that have interest in this record, IMHO, you should check the TILTON Genealogy book out and see who wrote it, when it was written, and if there were any errors recorded from the time it was written to now. The records of the town and the Rev. Page would, to me, seem to be the best records for Josiah and Hannah as they were registers from the time that the incidents occurred. 1. Nathaniel SANBORN's wife
    2. Dear George, Sue, and others, In my records, I show his second wife as Sarah Mason Waters. Is that correct? Or is that part of the Nason confusion? Thanks. Beth BSmith7439@aol.com

    12/22/1998 10:49:20
    1. Sarah Waters was the Second Wife of Nathaniel Sanborn
    2. melinde sanborn
    3. Hi Sue and Other Listers, I saw your message, and thought I would let you know that Clifford Stott's article has correctly identified Nathaniel Sanborn's second wife as Sarah Waters. If you have read it then you have seen all the evidence. Mr. Stott clearly explains how the confusion over the Nason connection probably came about. Earlier writers were wrong in calling her Sarah Nason for the reasons given in the Stott article. You ask whom Sarah Nason did marry. If you are primarily interested in the Sanborn family and not the Nason family then don't worry about that. If you are primarily interested in the Nason family, then I can understand your concern and that is a matter for further research. Happy holidays. George F. Sanborn Jr., F.A.S.G. Genealogist, The Sanborn Family Association

    1. Who's Nathaniel Sanborn, Jr 2nd wife???
    2. Sue Lang
    3. Now I'm really confused. 1. Joseph Dow in "History of the Town of Hampton, NH from its Settlement in 1638 to the Autumn of 1892" says" Nathaniel Sanborn, son of Lieut. John (2) married first, Dec 3, 1661, Rebecca, daughter of James Prescott (1); second Sarah Nason, who died Sept 1, 1748 aged eighty-five years; lived on Falls side." 2. Sarah (Waters) was the 3rd child of 8 children, and the 3rd of 4 girls of James and Mary. James had a 9th child, a daughter, by his 2nd wife. Additional source: Stott, Clifford L. "Sarah Waters, Second Wife of Nathaniel2 Sanborn of Hampton, New Hampshire", New Hampshire Genealogical Record, October 1996, for identity of Sarah as Nathaniel's wife. This corrects information contained in Dow's book. Dow, like Victor C. Sanborn and GDMNH, ALL incorrectly identified his wife as Sarah NASON. 3. Genealogy Dictionary of Maine and New Hampshire, page 505 says:"...Sarah, (d. of Richard NASON and Shuah COLCORD) m. Nathaniel Sanborn before 1709 and had a ch. as late as 1719..." Okay - so who is the correct spouse? If its not Sarah NASON, who is Sarah NASON's correct spouse? Sue Lang Happy Holidays Researching: Maine - NASON; NH - NASON, LANG
