    3. Dear Bagley Descendant, You should consult the only good and quite complete genealogy on the Bagley family entitled, "Some Descendants of Orlando Bagley of Amesbury, Massachusetts," by Martha (Bagley) Anderson and Norton Russell Bagley (1973). There is a copy at the New England Historic Genealogical Society, 101 Newbury Street, Boston, Mass. 02116-3007, and (I think) at the New Hampshire Historical Society, 30 Park Street, Concord, N.H. 03301. The Henry Bagley you mention, born in Amesbury, Mass., on 25 Aug. 1711, is No. 30 in that genealogy. I have photocopies of a few pages of it, but do not have the page showing Henry's family. He died on 24 Aug. 1776, and there is an estate for him in Rockingham County, N.H., probate records, so the genealogy says. Sorry I cannot tell you more, but I am sure that the above-mentioned genealogy will provide adequate documentation and information to enable you to make the connection. Henry was Henry4 Bagley, son of Orlando3 (Orlando2-1) and Dorothy (Harvey) Bagley of Amesbury. Best wishes. 3. I thought I would again post info on my great grandmother -- my brickwall. Clara Jane WALL/WALLS was born in July 1863 in NB (possibly Black River, Frederickton, or St John). I believe she was left an orphan before the age of 10 and moved to St. John w/ an aunt. It is possible that she had a brother. She moved to Portsmouth NH and married Charles Edgar GROVER there in 1884. Together they had three children: Edgar Ray, Paul C, and my grandmother Hazel G. Charles and Clara Jane owned a home on South Street in Portsmouth right by a memorial in a cirlce in the road; this house faced the water, and there used to be a fish market, The BlueFin, I think, across the street. Clara Jane evidently was a dressmaker of soem reknowned in the Portsmouth area, particularly known for her beautiful lace. I have heard that Clarahad a niece named Clara Atwell, who also lived in Portsmouth. Clara Jane had a grandfather named Robert ROGERS, probably descended from the Robert Rogers of Rogers Rangers. I am seeking any and all information on her family. All help appreciated. Thanks, Sue Beechum

    2. Hi, I am trying to get information on Jacob Bagley b. c 1745 from Candia, NH. I have unverified info that he is the son of Henry Bagley b. 1711 (descended from Orlando Bagley of Ipswich). I have not been able to find any verification that Jacob is Henry's son. I would also like to verify that James b. 1769 in Candia and later moved to Montville, ME (with Jacob) is actually Jacob's son and not a nephew. Four Bagley men moved to Montville from Candia by 1800 (per census records). There are so many Bagley's, I want to be sure I've got the right line. James' wife Abigail is the daughter of Elizabeth Cromwell (1746-1851 yes she was 105 when she died, its on her headstone). An 1850 census says Eliz. was born in NH and I wondered if Abigail met James in Candia. They were married in 1799 but do not know when they came to Montville, only that they were there in 1800. There is a long family story that Cromwell is Eliz. maiden name (her father Richard) and she used her maiden name because her husband deserted her and children. Abigail last name at the time of her marriage may have been Tollbrid. Does anyone see any mention of them in or near Candia. Any help would be greatly appreciated!! -

    3. I have the following information regarding Lydia Y. Cook [probably Lydia Young Cook]. Can anyone tell me more about this Moses Davis Family mentioned here??? I would also like to understand how "Lydia Cook was an aunt of Sally Foss". I don't know of this Foss-Cook connection. I'm sure it would provide another clue. Please!!! Thanks! Descendants of Lydia Y. Cook Generation No. 1 1. LYDIA Y.4 COOK (HEZEKIAH3, JOHN2, JOHN1) was born Abt. 1758 in of Lee, Strafford, NH by 1830 ***VERIFICATION NEEDED*** Parents???, and died 04 April 1858 in Lee, Strafford, NH2,3,4. Endnotes 1. LairdTowle@aol.com, (#24265), born circa 1758. 2. LairdTowle@aol.com, d. 4 Apr 1858, liv ee 1830, bur Lee, see Zebulon Davis; . 3. Congregational Church Records- Epping, [per Madilyn Williamson, Epping Historical Society, Curator], Cook, Lydia Y. d. Apr 4 1858 aged 100 years, buried in Epping; . 4. Cemetery Records, Epping, NH, Davis Graveyard, on Moses Davis homestead, North River [Film #15566], Cook, Lydia Y. Cook died April 4, 1859- Aged 100 years;Note: Davis Graveyard"Lydia Cook was an aunt of Sally Foss. Both women worked many years in Newmarket Mills and saved some money. They lived together in a small house still standing (1906) near Wadley's Falls. Sally was mother of Charlotte Folsom, illegitimate daughter of Capt. Asa or Winthrop Folsom. Why were they buried in the Davis lot? Possibly Sally Foss was daughter of widow Foss who married Enoch Folsom of Wadleys. See Folsom Gen. p. 52 There was a house on east side road landing from Wadley's Falls to Epping near boundary of Isiah Edgerly's farm occupied by Foss family, in which Sally's two brothers and possibly others were born. Late in life Lydia Cook and Sally Foss bought a small place in North River near Davis places which accounts for their interment. Charlotte Folsom died with John Chesley's family in Towle-Edgerly house; . Christine Pettit California http://www.familytreemaker.com/users/p/e/t/Christine-M-Pettit/

    2. Robert Jackson
    3. Hello John & Rockers, John -- It's too bad that you are in Florida and have missed the excitement of the current deluge of snow, ice coated (and now flooded) streets - in your home-town! Thank you for the cemetery information on Brackett Rd. - I think that will be an excellent mission to investigate upon the melting of snow and better weather conditions. It was good to hear from Dick Marston regarding the growing membership of our List, too! The name BRACKETT is, in a way, in my family line - although I have not had a chance to spend any time on the origin of the name as yet. Joseph BRACKETT Lang (son of William Lang who was b. in Hampton Falls in 1780, and ANNA NORRIS) is my grt grt grt grandfather, m. Betsy LIBBY in 1841. (Have an 1860s photo of Betsy) This Lang line by this time had shifted from NH to Maine. I can only speculate at this point that there might be an actual tie-in to the Brackett family considering the middle name of Joseph. But, I have nothing in my records that would indictate that at the moment. If I might back up a bit in time, and travel to Rye, NH in the late 1600s. I have often wondered about the WALLIS family who is in line with the LANG name on my mother's side. My dates are a little nebulous here. I have Stephen Lang, b. Portsmouth about 1675, m. about 1699? JANE WALLIS, dau. of William WALLIS of Rye. Then their son, Stephen LANG, b. about 1703? married ELIZABETH BANFIELD (widow of Charles Banfield), her actual family name was RICE, dau. of Thomas RICE. Well, next stop will have to be the Lane Memorial Library and another session with the history of Rye! Regards to all, Bob Jackson -- Hampton

    2. melinde sanborn
    3. Dear Listers, I have seen a number of postings on this list about Langleys, so will see whether anybody can help me out with this Langley family. I am looking for the full name, date and place of birth, and names of the parents of TIMOTHY G. LANGLEY who died in Strafford, N.H., on 15 January 1888 aged 72 years, 8 months, and is buried in Pine Hill Cemetery in Dover, N.H. However, Timothy's death record states that his age at death was 71 years, 7 months, 5 days. So he was born either about 1815, or on or about 10 June 1816. The death record states that he was born in Deerfield, N.H. He married LOUISA DOW of Pittsfield, N.H., who was born there 29 April 1813 and died on 13 August 1886, aged 72 years, 3 months, 15 days, and is buried with Timothy in Dover. She was a sister of my great-great-grandfather. Timothy and Louisa lived most of their lives Strafford, N.H. The only thing I know about Timothy's family is that he had a sister, Clarissa Langley, who never married and is buried in Strafford with people who are not Langleys. Timothy and Louisa had four children: Elvira Jane Langley, b. 25 Feb. 1837, m. Parker F. Rollins; Lucy Abigail Langley, b. 22 Feb. 1840, m. Charles W. Brewster; Sarah A. Langley, b. about 13 August 1840 [sic], m. Lafayette Colbath; and Mary A.F. Langley, b. __ July 1846, m. Dana L. Drew. Would be glad to hear from descendants of any of these people as they were my great-grandmother's first cousins. Can anyone help identify Timothy G. Langley? Thanks for any help or information. 1. Margaret Simpson of Greenland, NH
    2. Susan Johanson
    3. While we have been on the subject of Greenland, NH. I am looking for the parents of Margaret Simpson of Greenland, Rockingham County, NH. Margaret was born 1-2-1775 in Greenland, NH and married Alexander Wilson, b 1-11-1775 in Windham, NH. They must have lived in Greenland for a while after they were married because their first child, Pauline, was born 8-6-1808 in Greenland, NH. Their second child ,Lucinda, was born 5-22-1810 in Windham so they must have moved to Windhan between 1808 and 1810. Their third daughter, Sarah, was born 2-16-1812 in Windham. I learned from the History of Windham that Alexander owned and lived on his father's farm near Bissell's Camp and operated a saw mill there. Alexander's parents were George Wilson of Londonderry and Windham and Jannet Simpson whose father was Alexander Simpson the emigrant. Margaret Simpson's daughter Sarah Wilson married Joseph Cate and moved to Illinois. Margaret's daughter Lucinda married David SanforMetcalf of Lowell, MA.(My husband's g-g-grandfather). Alexander and Margaret may have moved to Lowell later in life. Alexander died in Lowell, MA 3-16-1861. Margaret died 3-28-1858 maybe in Lowell or Windham. About 60 years ago, my husband's great aunt wrote that Margaret was of the Portland and later Greenland Simpsons. The Simpson family may have been first in Portland before they moved to Greenland. Any information or clues to the ancestry of Margaret Simpson would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!! Susan Johanson -- Susan C.
