The April 99 issue of "Yankee" magazine has an article on the moving of the "Parmenter" barn in Londonderry, raised originally in 1860. The Londonderry Historical Society needs to match the funds kicked in by the State of New Hampshire. If all of us with Londonderry roots were to make a donation, they would go over the top in no time. : : The number of cemeteries in Rockingham County is beyond calculation. There : are thirty two in Epping alone. Most are in the woods where once there was : a hayfield with a shaded corner. The Tilton cemetery on Blake Road (West : Epping)includes a 30 inch high monument erected by parents of a son who : went west in the 1840s, never to their knowledge to return. However, one : day, after the Civil War, children at the Tilton house saw a livery wagon : stop in the road. A man climbed out, walked up the field to the cemetery, : stayed a while, returned to the wagon and drove away. They went up to see : what they could and found the hay over the graves of the parents matted : where someone had lain. One of the children told Mrs ___ Folsom Blair who, : when in her 80's, told me in 1962. : : Charlie Bond

G'day I may be grasping at straws here but are there any BURLEY or BURLEIGH researchers on the list? My g- grandfather was Henry BURLEY Davis and I'm presuming the name BURLEY was the surname of one of his ancestors. As I'm stuck [again] with my research I'm hoping this might be a productive way to approach it. Henry Burley was born in Portsmouth, Rockingham County, NH on 23 June 1829. His parents were Clement M. DAVIS born in Portsmouth, Rockingham County, NH on 1 Sept 1795 & Sarah J. STEVENS born in Lee, Strafford County, NH on 5 Mar 1798. So the name BURLEY must come from back at least one more generation. I'm interested in ANY Burley/Burleigh families within striking distance of these NH Counties at that time. I know there were some in the Lee - Durham - Newmarket areas of Strafford County, but I know nothing about them, and there must be others in other areas. Clement's father was John M. DAVIS born in Portsmouth & Sarah's father was Enoch STEVENS born in Lee. Thanks Peter Coffee Camp NSW Australia
Hello to the list, I am trying to find the parents of my gg-grandfather, Joel Page b. 23 October, 1809, in Londonderry. He m. 19 Nov., 1833 Rachel Fling, d.o. William Fling and Susanna Watts. They had 8 children. He d. 14 May, 1891. The evidence points to Benjamin Page and Abby or Abigail Griffin, as his parents, but I have no proof. Anybody have anything on this family? I would be very grateful for any information you would be willing to share. Thanks, Eileen Page Coyle

I am in my "winter home" in Naples but I do have a lot of personal info back on the Cape regarding the Rev Philander K THURSTON. He was part-owner of apple orchards in Amherst MA and was grad from Amherst Coll---lived ca mid 1850s. If this connects to the THURSTONs in Rockingham Co, I will be glad to share when I return. Let me know and it won't be long. Mary Ella Jones- Parrott.

Cousins and Colleagues... In my request for help on four Sarah Berry's for whom I had little in the way of VRs, I made an error that I would like to correct: I said that one of the Sarahs was Sarah, daughter of James Berry & Eleanor Wallis, probably born in late 1670's or early 1680's, possibly in New Castle. As one person has noted to me, James berry and Eleanor Wallis did not have a daughter named Sarah. I should have stated that this was Sarah Berry, daughter of Samuel Berry and Abigail Webster who were married probably shortly before 1700. I have no VRs on Sarah, let alone any spouse or family. Help here would be greatly appreciated. Bill -- ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ William F. Barbara, I'm interested in the 1637 profile of Robert Huggins. He's often called Huckins, etc. Thanks! ---Robin
