    3. Great maps of NH circa 1895 can be down loaded from the Univ of NH at <http://docs.unh.edu/nhtopos/NewHampshire.htm> These are topographical maps that were surveyed in the late 1800s One problem is that they were scanned in four sections so you have to splice together. Adobe 5.0 works great for this and although it'll take some time it's well worth it. You'll end up with a very nice and well detailed color map. I've checked the Manchester map that goes all the way south to Nashua and east to Windham with no sign of Knowles Island or Pond. > Subject: Knowles Pond & Knowles Island > Date: Mon, 19 Apr 1999 16:29:59 -0500 > From: Ellen Bisson <thebissons@worldnet.att.net> > To: NHROCKIN-L@rootsweb.com > > Found two refs in an Ancestry.com Gazetteer & Atlas lookup for Knowles > Pond (which apparently stretches through to Merrimack Co.) and Knowles > Island, both in Rockingham Co., NH. 3. On the Civil War Widow's Pension for Lucy Tilton Page , one of the witnesses is Nathan B. Tilton of Exeter . I would hope Nathan is either a brother or Lucy's father . Would anyone have anything on Nathan and possibly know his/their parents ? As an aside , New Hampshire has a volunteer named Robert Christie who helps process requests and is doing an excellent job , if anyone is thinking of writing for records . He located the enlistment papers of 2 other veterans . Mahalo , Kevin

Since the family's origins include much of ME, NH, and VT, I thought it would be useful for you to know. As with other Rootsweb lists, to subscribe send a msg to: KNOWLES-L-request@rootsweb.com with only the word "subscribe," without quotation marks, in the body of the msg. Nothing in the subject line. A confirmation msg is returned almost immediately. My apologies if you receive duplicate messages. Regards, Ellen Knowles Bisson
