    3. Yet another Moulton tangle<vbg> I, or others for me, have checked NEHG Registers and Genealogical Dict. ME and NH. Mary (_____) Moulton married second William Estow 15 May 1623, St Margaret Ormesby England. William Estow does not mention his wife in his will. William and Mary , along with her son William emigrated to New England [NEHG Register 142:259] Mary Smith, widow of Robert Moulton has been proposed as Mary (_____) Moulton. I have Mary Smythe Moulton, widow of Robert, buried 27 April 1636 St Margaret Ormesby England. Any insight into this is most welcome! Thanks, Mariana William MOULTON**, born Abt 1617 in Oremsby Norfolk England 1; died 18 April 1664 in Hampton Rockingham NH 2. He was the son of 2. (_____) MOULTON and 3. Mary (_____). He married (1) Margaret PAGE** Abt 1644. She was the daughter of Robert (Deacon) PAGE** and Lucy WARDE**. Children of William MOULTON** and Margaret PAGE** are: i. 3. Mariana and Bill, My response to Mariana (which I inadvertently sent as a private email) was essentially identical to Bill's. However, I would point out that John Moulton made his will in 1649; Peter Johnson and Ruth Moulton were not married until 1660. Thus Ruth could not be omitted because of having already received a marriage portion or because of any animosity between her father and her husband since she would not marry for another 11 years. Assuming that she was an infant or very young child when she was baptized, she would not have been much older than nine or ten when her supposed father made his will. Regards, Clark -----Original Message----- From: teschek@tiac.net [mailto:teschek@tiac.net] Sent: Thursday, May 13, 1999 1:35 PM To: NHROCKIN-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: Moulton, 1640s > Dow, in Hisotry of Hampton, has Ruth as the d/of John Moulton and Anne Green. > Noyes, et al, in Genealogical Dictionary of Maine and New Hampshire: > Under Johnson: Peter Johnson married Ruth Moulton (John). > Under Moulton: Ruth, d/of John, is said to have died bef 1649. > NEHG Register 131:314 in 1977, in the treatment of the English ancestry of > the Moultons, has Ruth as "unplaced". > Can anyone shed new, more recent light on this? Mariana, Keep looking through the NEHG Register for later Moulton articles. There is a series of three, each of the later two disputing facts in the earlier ones, published in October 1987, July 1990, and April 1993. The July 1990 issue, p.262 by Joy Wade Moulton "Some Doubts About the English Background of the Moulton Family" states under Ruth's record, "undoubtedly the Ruth Moulton who m. at Hampton 3 April 1660 Peter Johnson. [It has been stated] that she perhaps d. young since she was not mentioned in her father's will (Essex Institute, [Old] Norfolk Co., Mass., Records, 1:11-13). However, the woman of that name who m. Peter Johnson could not have been her aunt Ruth Moulton, b. ca. 1617, for Peter was bp. at Winnacunnet (later Hampton) early in 1639, and he and his wife had four children b. between 1663 and 1674. Of the two other Moultons in Hampton at that time, William had a Ruth b. 7 May 1659, and Thomas did not have a daughter by that name." While this still doesn't explain why Ruth isn't mentioned in the will, it does give some reason to place Ruth back as a daughter of John and Anne. Perhaps she was given her inheritance earlier so didn't need to receive anything in the will, or perhaps her father hated her husband or had disowned her. Been known to happen! Sarah Wadleigh b.1655 Wells ME Their son: Isreal Young b.ca 1677 in Exeter His son: Isreal Young b.ca1700 Haverhill m, Martha Bedell b.1705 of Amesbury Their son:Isreal Young b. I believe that James Young moved to Corina Me and had a family there. There is a James Young there in the early 1800 in the census index. I believe that if this is so he could be the James Young who is my ancestor. Does anyone have any information to confirm or deny this move. Or any information about this family at all. Thanks in advancefor anything you might be able to supply. Bev in MN PeakyB@aol.com

    2. Mariana
    3. Same problem as my previous post, only worse.....no sources at all! Again, I do not know the source of this information. Was Margaret really only abt 14 when married? Any information regarding this family appreciated. I have seen on the web[LDS page?] that Samuel married Ruth Tarelton. Mariana MARGARET SEAVEY* was born Abt 1750 in Rye Rockingham NH. She married SAMUEL MARDEN* [bapt 13 September 1750 in Rye Rockingham NH] 22 October 1764 in Rye Rockingham NH, son of Jonathan MARDEN* and Hepzibah HARDY*. Children of Margaret SEAVEY* and Samuel MARDEN* are: i. MEHITABLE MARDEN*, b. 1766, Rye Rockingham NH; d. 26 August 1846; m. PETER LEAVITT*, 1794, Stark Coös NH. ii. SAMUEL MARDEN, b. 1 October 1772, Rye Rockingham NH.
