Ruth SANBORN, born in Brentwood on 16 Sept. 1756, the daughter of Zadok and Susanna (JUDKINS) SANBORN, Sr., married Asahel JOHNSON of Northwood, according to Victor C. Sanborn, (Sanborn genealogy, pg. 137, #126i). However, according to Joseph Dow (History of Hampton, pg. 773, #XII), she married a Nathaniel JOHNSON of Hampton. While Sanborn and Sanborn's Vital Records of Hampton (1992, vol. 1 at pg. 144) confirm that Nathaniel's first wife was named Ruth and that they had children in Hampton, it offers no clue as to Ruth's maiden name. Is there any subsequent research study that addresses this conflict of authority? Was Nathaniel's Ruth not a SANBORN? Thanks for any help. -- Dick Marston
Hello! Looking for info on Anne Winthrop. I have no dates or other info on her except that she was married to Henry Bagley. Henry was born in Mass. and Anne may be from there as well. However, they were in Newton, NH by 1755. He died in either Candia or Newton and I believe Anne died there as well. I have info on Bagley line, but would love to get any info on Anne! Sincerely, Lianne Mitchell

Gail: Your address is an address to 2 different people. The Clerk of the Superior Court is one office - probably located in the old court house in east Exeter near the Hampton line and the Registry of Deeds is another office. - located in the New court house on the Brentwood Kingston line on the far west side of Exeter. I'm visiting Exeter, Brentwood, the Records division of the court house in Brentwood and Concord Next week so if you e/mail next week I can tell you. Chances are that if you address a letter to the Clerk of the Superior Court Court House Exeter, NH........ and ask for a divorce decree......the letter will get there. A much simpler solution would be to call the clerk of the superior court, ask how much the decree would cost and then send the clerk a check. You don't get court records except sometimes "probate court " records from a deeds registry. A Register of Deeds or Recorder of Deeds, or a County Clerk or a birth registry and death registry are generally not part of a court and are different political offices. A Circuit Clerk, Superior Clerk, Court Clerk are part of the Court system and would have law suit records, divorce records, litigation records and sometimes probate records, only. Hi folks - With the speed of light, I have received several responses to my query. Thanks one and all! Several people told me I left the NH out of my address. Actually, I didn't but to save time I left it out of the query *assuming* you'd know I'd gotten that part right! Ahhh - assuming - get's me trouble everytime :)! Thanks again for the help. Best, gail
I requested an 1880s, Rockingham Co. divorce record from USGENNH web page advice: Clerk Superior Court Reg. of Deeds Route 125 Brentwood 03830 It was returned as undeliverable. Guess I'm missing something! Does anyone have the precise address? Thanks much. Regards, gail Sydney, Aust.
The Rockingham County Courthouse is in Brentwood but almost on the Kingston town line. I know the address is a PO Box in Kingston, 03848, but I can't find the box number. In the phone book the address is 10 Route 125, Brentwood, NH 03833. Brentwood doesn't have a post office but uses the Exeter zip code. You might try one or the other. Joyce Davies in Kingston NH

Please remember, people. Posts to this list must have SOME Rockingham county, N.H., connection. In other words, the person you research here should be a person who lived there SOMEtime, and the connection should be stated. It's o.k. that he or she was born or died elsewhere, but the mere fact that he or she was only a descendant (or ancestor) of a Rockingham resident is not enough. While not a popular policy with some, this focus adds certainty that all of us share a common research interest and that we are willing and able to help as well as to learn. Thanks for your continued understanding and cooperation. Happy hunting. -- Dick Marston, Owner: NHROCKIN mail list.

My great aunt's husband was Lincoln Carroll Moulton who was born about 1870. His parents went from New Hampshire to Montana, going up the Missouri River. I don't know the parents' names right off, but if anyone is interested I can try to find them. Cathryn
There is a Moulton, Texas. I have no idea who it is named after. Perhaps some of those Moulton families went to Texas. Town still exists and is in Gonzales County. I suggest you check out the Gonzales County Archives site or the Texas GenWeb site to see if you can dig up more information. Shannon Clyde searching for Gibson/Gipson family members in Texas.

A public thank you [in case I missed a private thank you] to all who sent me information, sources and suggestions regarding Ruth Moulton, wife of Peter Johnson. You are a generous sharing group. The information is most appreciated. If you are curious.....I have decided to leave Ruth unconnected, with plenty of possibilites in her note section in the database. End result, "another muddy Moulton tangle". So right, Dick<vbg>. Thanks again, Mariana
I am looking for the parents and ancestry of Susannah Blake b 1762 in Hampton Falls. I have been told her father was a Henry Blake, but which one. There seems to be several in the time period 1730-35 who might be her father. And who is the mother. Susannah married William Graves from Andover. Thanks. Bob Baxter rexbaxter@csi.com
