I've recently worked a line back to Nathaniel Carter of Newton, NH. I found a birth record for a daughter Sally b. 16 June 1794 in Newton, that gives Nathaniel Carter as her father and Sarah ------- as her mother. I didn't find any marriage, birth or death records for Nathaniel or Sarah. Can anyone place Nathaniel or Sarah? Thanks, Dave Emerson demerson@worldnet.att.net

Yesterday we acquired a new volunteer for look-ups in Portsmouth and the towns of New Castle and Newfields. Thanks, Maryann Algren! Maryann is a resident of Portsmouth. Of the 37 cities and towns in the county, we now have volunteers for 28. In fact, there was getting to be so much data crammed into the home page, I was forced to divide it into 2 pages. The look-up volunteers now have a page unto themselves. The new page can be book-marked [ http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/1706/rock-lookup.html ], or you can reach it from the home page, as per usual. The load-time for the home page has been cut in half. As for the GeoCities pop-up banners, I can't explain what happened. I had the problem solved, but when Yahoo! and GeoCities merged, something screwy happened to the "geoguide" code on this page. GeoCities/Yahoo! now won't read it, and it's as if I failed to code the page properly or to activate the geoguide to prevent the pop-ups. Probably the GeoGuide Manager has been switched to "off" for this page, but I can no longer access the GeoGuide Manager to make the correction. I'm working on it. Thanks for your understanding and patience. -- Dick Marston, Rockingham County, NH, GenWeb County Coordinator, [ http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/1706/ ]; Administrator: NHROCKIN mail list
Looking for information on Lydia Sargent who married 30 April 1710 John Straw. Was she the daughter of William Sargent and Naomi Stanwood. Does anyone have vital stats and source ? Thank you Jean
NHROCKIN List: Just had to jump in with my 2 cents. According to Noyes/Libby/Davis, the compilers of "Genealogical Dictionary of Maine and New Hampshire," (1939), Jeremiah DID marry a Hannah, BUT she was NOT the Hannah PHILBRICK claimed by Joseph Dow in "History of Hampton" (the daughter of Thomas and Mehitabel [DALTON] PHILBRICK). They say that Joseph got it wrong, and that THAT Hannah died young (on 18 Jan 1696/1697), GDMNH, pg. 546. They do NOT say, however, what Hannah's real surname was. Sanborn and Sanborn, "Vital Records of Hampton, N.H.," vol. 2, pg. 41, confirms that she was indeed, Hannah PHILBRICK. The records do not identify her parents, SO, either GDMNH got it wrong, or else Jeremiah's Hannah may have been the much younger Hannah, born 3/25/1702, the daughter of James and Sarah ( ) PHILBRICK. If so, she would have been only 16 or 17 when she married in Hampton on January 7, 1719/1720. Thoughts, anyone? wprokasy wrote: > > Cousins and Colleagues... > This is to add to the information provided by Tom Prescott re: Hannah > Philbrick's family: > > Jeremiah and Hannah had five children (Elizabeth, William, Mary, Sarah, > and Hannah) all apparently born in Kingston (Dow, p. 929). Sorry, Bill, I can't help you on this one. Come to think of it, I may not have helped at all. :-) Perhaps someone has already privately solved this mystery. If so, I'd like to get the answers, too. > Thanks for any help. > Bill > -- > ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ > William F. Cousins and Colleagues... This is to add to the information provided by Tom Prescott re: Hannah Philbrick's family: Jeremiah and Hannah had five children (Elizabeth, William, Mary, Sarah, and Hannah) all apparently born in Kingston (Dow, p. 929). Jeremiah was born December 5, 1695 in Hampton (Sanborn & Sanborn, Vol 1, p. 64) and Hannah was born December 19, 1695 (Sanborn & Sanborn, Vol 1, p. 64) If anyone has access to the Kinston VRs, I'd appreciate learning the birth dates and, where available, marriage and death dates for their children. Thanks for any help. Bill -- ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ William F. Cousins and Colleagues... Brown's History of Hampton Falls (p. 137) lists a marriage of Josiah Rawlings and Hannah Philbrick on January 10, 1745. There were several Hannah Philbricks of marriageable age in the area at that time. Does anyone know who the parents of this Hannah Philbrick were? Bill -- ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ William F. I may have just found another family link in your area. Does anyone have information on a Mary Dalton, b. 2 June, 1748, probably in Londonderry, or her husband Bartholomew Stevens, b. 8 September 1746 in Hampstead? Mary had a brother Samuel Dalton. I'm trying to make the connection between Mary Dalton and my GGgrandfather Samuel Dalton, b. 29 August 1757 in Londonderry. Siblings? Thanks. Norm Dalton
