No, it's working, but to my surprise, I discovered this afternoon that the commercials are NOT added to the Digest Mode for the lists. Therefore, you and the other subscribers to the Digest never saw, and perhaps never will see, any commercial tagline. Then again, perhaps that will soon be corrected. I guess I should make that clear to the lists. So far, all the responses, like yours, have been positive, with only one with a concern about how his spam filter may deal with the taglines. I even got another advertiser for RootsWeb! (Think they'll give me a commission?) :-) -- Dick Marston, Administrator: NHMERRIM, NHROCKIN and MARSTON mail lists

    3. Could anyone be kind enough to let me know if there is a website out there where you can match up bride and groom to get a genealogy outlook of the family? About what family search has, I think it's easier to match a family up if you have both parents. LDS (so I just found out) is all messed up. 1. Mail Lists Update
    2. Dick Marston
    3. Hi, List: I have decided to join those several RootsWeb Mail List Administrators who have voluntarily agreed to allow the addition of commercial messages at the end of each message posted to my lists (i.e., a commercial "tagline"). If the system is working, as I believe it is, there should be such a commercial at the end of this message. While commercials certainly do not enhance our genealogical searches, and they consume substantial bandwidth on the internet, they have become a "necessary evil" to help RootsWeb pay its bills and provide us all these lists free of charge. I hope you will understand. However, if you have strong objections to the policy, please let me know. I promise to pass your comments along to RootsWeb (unless you want to do so directly, yourself). By this announcement, I'm not opening a new topic for discussion by this list, so please email your comments, if any, whether in support or opposition, to me personally. Speaking of my email address, please also note that I'm using the MARSTON.NET address again. I'll soon be dropping my current ISP in favor of a new and MUCH faster ADSL service. Anything sent to dick@marston.net will reach me even after the switch is complete. Thanks! -- Dick Marston, Administrator: NHMERRIM, NHROCKIN and MARSTON mail lists

    3. Tom, I don't know if this will help you at all, but 2 years ago I paid a visit to the NH Historical Society's genealogy section, where they have, among other things, many unpublished (as well as published, of course) genealogies. As I was looking for a Seavey myself (not yours, however), I poked through this section and found several that named members of Seavey families (various spellings). If you are able to go there, it is a wonderful place with an extensive genealogy collection. (They do charge a daily fee to use the facility, but it is worth it.) The first place to head for is the card catolog of genealogies, most of which were never published but which can be gold mines of potential leads, which you can then research yourself. Most do not give sources--probably they came from family interviews, etc. Be sure to look for spouse surnames in the genealogy catalog, too, as they will likely have information you can use. 1. Jeremiah Moulton's parents
    2. Dear Bill, You asked: Jeremiah and Elisabeth (Perkins) Moulton had two children born in York, ME (Lydia and Joseph, 1730 and 1732). Question: is this Jeremiah Moulton the son of Robert and Lucy (Smith) Moulton, b. in Hampton December 1, 1696? The Genealogical Dictionary of Maine and NH by Noyes, Libby and Davis Pages 497 &498 gives "Jeremiah 3d, m. (int. 19 Apr. 1729) Elizabeth Perkins of Wells" as the son of "Lt. Joseph b. 18 Jan. 1679-80, m. 30 Dec. 1697 Mary Pulman who d. 24 June 1722; m. 2nd in Berwick 6 Dec. 1722 Mary (Cutts) Spencer". Lt Joseph was the son of Jeremiah Moulton, Esq. of York. Jeremiah m. between 12 Aug. 1673 & 24 June 1678 Mary Young (daughter of Rowland). Mary died 3 June 1723. Jeremiah then married in Sept. 1723 Mrs. Alice Chadbourne Donnell. Jeremiah died 26 Dec. 1731 (Vital Records of York , transcribed by Bragdon & Frost ) Page 381. Jeremiah was the son of Thomas Moulton and Martha ____. Thomas was baptizted at great Great Ormesby, co. Norfolk (England) 16 July 1608 s. of Robert and Mary (Smith). He and his brother John were some of the first settlers of Hampton, NH. Later Thomas moved to York, Maine. There were many Jeremiahs in York. In the York Vital Records, page 119, the Jeremiah who married Elizabeth Perkins was called "Jeremiah Moulton Terts"(= Tertius (the third)). Later he is called "Jeremiah Junr" when the births of his children are listed. When the older Jeremiah died the others moved up in the numbering system. The first Jeremiah had a nephew (my relative), grandson and a grandnephew all named Jeremiah. It makes for much confusion. Other than the Gen Dict. of ME & NH and the Vital Records of York Maine books, there is a good article from the New England Historical Genealogical Register, Vol. 141, Oct. 1987, pages 313 - 329 by William Haslet Jones on the Moulton Family and their English background. Hope this helps you. Elaine Wood

    3. Greg, I don't know anything about your Sarah J. LOVERING, but it seems to me that isn't exactly a common surname. We have a LOVERING Street here in Medway (my husband's family all live on Lovering St.), so I'm sure a Lovering family figured prominently in Medway's history somehow. (My husband says he was a poet.) I can't put my finger on our Medway History at this moment, but you might get some info by looking at Medway. Many of Medway's inhabitants have roots in NH, including ours.
