    1. MASON and WEBSTER
    2. I am not sure if this is how it's done but here goes... I am looking for information on a Robert MASON who married a Rachel WEBSTER on June 6,1791, in or around Deerfield, NH. Family history says he was born in Scotland and was previously married to an Anne ERWIN . Rachel WEBSTER was born on May 27,1766. They had 4 children, Annie Erwin Mason, Jane Webster Mason, John Mason, and another boy, maybe Moses Mason. Son John, later went on and married Abigail ROBIE (ROBEY) in Canterbury, NH. I am stumped by Robert Mason. Family history says he was born in 1727, but that would have made him an old man when his children were born...I think we are missing a generation somewhere. Any info on Robert or Rachel would be GREATLY appreciated. Thank you for your time, Robin

    2. Thomas D. Sevy
    3. In a 7/11/99 Email Bill Fredrickson asked about Sally Seavey who m. Ephraim Rowe and had child Mary Ann Rowe b.1 Nov 1817. I am sending this to the Seavey OneList, to the Rockingham List and directly to Bill Fredrickson. I hope that Bill or some of the folks on the Lists may have some ideas or leads on the parents of Thomas Seavey or Anne Staples. As usual, the Hall Index doesn't provides some dates, but not places. Although there is no documented Rockingham connection, that was the home for most Seavey's of this era. Today I came across more info on this family in the Hall Index and I had Bill's name and Email address in notes for Sally. The Hall Index Page 110 has the following: Thomas Seavey b.abt 1744 m. Anne Staples (or Steples). Anne d.1821. (Parents for Thomas not given) Children: Eliakim 1761-1845 m1) Lucy Witham; m2) Mary Brown Polly Sally m. Ephraim Rowe Anna (Nancy) m. Simon Knowles Hannah m. John Robinson Beckman Moses I note that the Noyes GDMN has a listing for Staples, but not for Steples. There was one Anne Staples, but no marriage to a Seavey is listed. Parsons' History of Rye has some Staples in the index, but none are married to a Seavey. Tom Sevy Thomas D. Sevy, MSW, LCSW Grantsmanship Consultant 1617 W. 3. Good Morning: I'd suggest that you write to the Chester Town Clerk for info on vital records. Early New Hampshire vitals are maintained in the Clerk's office. Most town clerks, albeit busy and frazzled, will provide the information you need. You might try sending a token amount of money for their research to speed up the process. 1. Emerson's in Haverhill
    2. jeastman
    3. Greetings, I see by other posts that the Haverhill Emerson's have been mentioned. Can anyone confirm that the parent's of Jonathan Emerson b. March 9, 1669 in Haverhill, Mass. were MICHAEL EMERSON and HANNAH WEBSTER ? Then who were Michael Emerson's parents? The Mormon Church web site has ancestrial files that list the father of Michael as being THOMAS EMERSON, b. July 26, 1584. However they list the mother of Michael Emerson as being either MARGARET FROE, b. 1591 in Cadney, Lincolnshire, England, d. Cadney or ELIZABETH BREWSTER, b. July 26, 1584 in St. Michael's, Stortford, Hertfordshire, England, d. Aug 10, 1638 in Ipswich, Essex, Mass. Which is the correct mother? Margaret Froe or Elizabeth Brewster? Thanks. Ideally you'll want to go to both, but you say you have limited time. In that case where you want to go depends largely on what you are looking for. The NH Historical Society (not Genealogical Society) is the better place to go for published books, histories and genealogies. The State Library, on the other hand, is the place to go if you want microfilm of old town records, censuses or newspapers. They also have a huge card-file every-name index to many town records on microfilm. They are right across the street from one another so if you get to one and want to go to the other it isn't a hardship. 1. Re: Concord Research
    2. Hi Barbara, I was able to spend an afternoon at each location last August. While I was able to find information in the State Library, most of it was rather 'generic' -- at least for the families I was researching. On the other hand, the NH Historical Society was chocked full of 'goodies' (family genealogies, NEHGS Registers & the NH equivalent, town histories & vital records, and I believe periodicals on microfiche, though I didn't get to those -- all in one location) -- so much so, that I canceled other plans and returned to the Historical Society for another day of research! And still it wasn't enough time. I wasn't able to make it to New England this summer, but I hope to make another 'visit' next year. I can't wait! Best of luck wherever you decide. 3. Cousins and Colleagues... The Rye VRs have "Elizabeth Foss Daughter of Elizabeth Foss Was Born June the 6th 1784." The older Elizabeth may, among the possibilities, have been the daughter of Wallis and Mary (Dworst) Foss or Joshua and Abigail (Locke) Foss or Joshua and Rachel (Marden) Foss. They are now very much straightened out. I also want to apologize for putting LDS down like I did. It may be some of their records, But it was about 100% fold of my confusion that added to the problem. Some of it is added all together, but you hae to keep plugging to find the right answers. 3. Cousins and Colleagues... I want to thank those individuals who responded to me query re the above-named couple. For those who did not receive all of these messages, the answer to my query is a highly probable "yes:" The Rachel Philbrick who married Ephraim Brown in Havehrill was the daughter of James and Sarah (Unk) Philbrick whose children were born in Hampton, NH. The key reference was to Libby, Noyes and Davis, p. 545 which notes that Sarah (Unk) subsequently married Benjamin Emerson in Haverhill. The Haverhill Philbrick marriages of the appropriate time span were precisely the names of the children of James and Sarah. The reference had a particularly good effect for me, since it permitted some additional linkages that I had not previously made in my database. Thanks. Bill -- ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ William F.
