Hello List, I am new to the list and would like to introduce myself. My name is Dottie BARR Hinrichs. I have been interested in genealogy for 25 years and found the information in my BARR ancestors in the History of New Ipswich many years ago. Now with the wonderful information to be found on the internet and these lovely mail lists, I hope to find more. My ancestor James BARR was born at Paddockraw (probably the name of a farm), Renfrewshire, Scotland. He was christened 19 August 1749 in Kilbarchan, Renfrewshire, Scotland. He came to America between 1773 and 1775, settling in New Ipswich. He married Molly Cummings, daughter of Eleazer and Sarah (Reed) Cummings about 1783, they had 14 children: James b 1783 and died in infancy Nancy b 25 July 1784 m Jeremiah Prichard, d 29 9 1864 Sarah b 25 May 1788 m William Lovejoy, d 29 9 1864 James b 23 May 1790 m Laura Livermore, d 6 6 1845 George b 6 Feb 1792 m Amelia Ames Caroline Mathilda b 5 1 1794 m Asa Prichard, d 3 10 1874 Cummings b 9 May 1795 m Eliza Peabody, d abt 1864 Robena b 22 Feb 1799 d 20 Dec 1873, never married Charlotte b 13 Mar 1801 d 27 Aug 1842, never married William b 7 Feb 1803 never married Mary Whitehill b 15 Dec 1805 d 19 Nov 1808, never married John b 10 Mar 1808 m Emily Augusta Smith, d 29 6 1841 Esther Jane b 4 Dec 1810 d 26 July 1837, never married Charles died in infancy John is my ancestor and I have a bit of information about him and his children. I am interested in finding more information about any of James and Molly's children. I do have a little information about who their children married and who their children were from this history. I think it would be very interesting to hear from anyone else that would be working on these families or anyone that could give me more information.
