    3. Daniel M. CLARK married Betsey Boyd PATTERSON, 5 Mar 1799, New Boston, Hillsborough Co., NH. His parents were Samuel CLARK and Sarah HOLMES, from Londonderry, NH. His grandparents were Robert CLARK and Letitia COCHRAN, who came from North Ireland, some time between 1818 and 1725. Daniel had a brother named Moses who lived near him, and 2 uncles, William and Ninian Clark. Daniel and Betsey's children, all born in New Boston between 1800 and 1812, were Betsy, Bradford, David, Jane, Sarah, William, Robert Patterson, and Nancy Stinson. Each of these children moved away and married elsewhere - probably to Buffalo/Welland Co., Ontario, Canada area first. There are Welland Co. marriages for Nancy and Hugh Watt, 1829, Sarah and Tyler Beach, 1833, and William and Susan Woolever, 1834. Betsy and h. Timothy Hoyt eventually are found in Waterloo, Canada; Bradford and w. Isabel in Buffalo; David and w. Rebecca in Huntington, IN; Jane and h. Israel Brown in Joliet, IL; Sarah and h. Tyler Beach in East Otto, NY; William and w. Susan in Buffalo, NY; Robert Patterson and w. Violett Clark in Belleville, MI; and Nancy and h. Hugh Watt in Vicksburg, MS. My questions - Who were Betsey's parents? What happened to Daniel and Betsey? Why did all 8 children leave NH and when? What impact did the weather changes brought on by the eruption of Mt. Tambura, 1816, have on the area? Given the possibility that Daniel's family might have been Tory, what's the likelihood of anti-Tory feelings in the period following the War of 1812? I'd love to hear from anyone with ideas, suggestions, or guestimates about this family. Gail
