There are several separate and distinct families of WOOD and WOODS, so don't confuse yourself. <G> << Can you fill in any gaps, i.e., Nathaniel's wife, the parents of Alice Rushton? I do have information about the Longleys if that is of interest. >> For a long time, Nathaniel's first wife was thought to be Eleanor _____, his second wife was thought to be Alice WHITNEY, his third wife was Sarah BROWN, and his fourth wife was Mary (BLANCHARD) DERBYSHIRE. Several researchers, myself included, have been researching the Eleanor and Alice problem. We have come to the conclusion that Eleanor and Alice were one in the same person and that she was not a WHITNEY. You can read more about this at http://www.erols.com/rlward1/whitney/index.html which describes our research and theories. As for Alice RUSHTON, nothing has been found on her as far as I know. I think we are all awaiting the publication of the next few volumes of The Great Migration Begins, which should cover the huge influx of immigrants from 1634 to 1635 (the series will go beyond those two years, but the next volume or two will stop at 1635 I think). My husband is descended from Nathaniel WOODS, son of Samuel and Alice, through his son Nathaniel WOODS Jr. Hope this helps. Vickie Elam White
