    3. Hello List! I am new to this list and hope someone can lead me in the right direction. My g-g-grandmother, Elizabeth ROGERS was born 3-19-1817 in NH. She married Luther SAWTELLE on 11-10-1839. He was born in Boston. They had 5 children. I know the youngest 3 were born in Louisiana, including my grandmother who was born in Algiers, New Orleans. What little information I have tells me that her brother, Augustus, died at age 5 and is buried in LA. Her other three brothers all fought in the Civil War. William died at the Battle of Gettysburg, Luther died of pneumonia while on a mission and is buried in LA with his brother, and Albert survived the war but wasn't heard from after 1872. Their father, Luther, died at the battle of Lafourche Crossing in LA. What I have found while trying to research Civil War records is that there was an Augustus I. Sawtelle, b. BROOKLINE, NH who enlisted in the Civil War as a resident of Brookline on Sept. 15, 1862. He mustered in as a sergeant on Oct. 18, 1862 and died disabled on July 6, 1863 in Algiers, LA. I am wondering if he could be related to "my" Sawtelles. His age is listed as 41 but I don't know if he was 41 when he enlisted or when he died. Would anyone have any information on this family or about the town of Brookline? Thanks for any help. Lorraine
