First Generation 1. Thomas Brown, b. ca.1610 England, and wife Bridget (?) settled Sudbury MA 1637, moved to Concord MA 1638, freeman 14 Mar. 1639, d. Concord 3 Nov. 1688. (Concord recorded the death, but Savage says "he removed probably to Cambridge and died 3 Nov. 1688). Bridget died 5 Jan 1681. c24,s266 BROWN, THOMAS, Concord 1638, perhaps br. of Rev. His w. d. 5 Jan. 1681, and he rem. prob. to Cambridge, d. 3 Nov. 1688. S Brothers Edmund and William were, with Thomas, original grantees of Sudbury. (Another note says Edmund was "proprietor" of Sudbury.) Other Browns settled in Watertown MA may be related. [Savage]* says Thomas was from Hawkedon Parish, Co. Suffolk, near Bury St. Edmunds. A note (p. 118) in "Genealogies of Watertown, Mass." by Henry Bond (1860) states: "It is not improbable that Edmund, Thomas and William Browne, original grantees of Sudbury, were of the same lineage as Richard and Abraham (of Watertown) but no evidence of it has been discovered. Richard and Abraham were sons of Thomas of Swan Hall, Parish of Hawkedon, Suffolk Co. Eng.". Farmer, quoting "Shattuck, MS Hist., Concord" says Thomas removed to Cambridge. 2 i. Boaz Brown b.
