Am still searching for my gggrandfather, William C. FORD (d. abt. 1852) who married Sarah Ann ORNE (d. bef. 1853) July 1, 1840 in Washington, New Hampshire. At the time of marriage, Sarah had been living in Washington and William had been living in Windsor (VT or NH?). At some point, they lived in Hillsborough and had 2 children, Emma (b abt 1849, d Jan 25,1921) and George Albert (b Apr 30, 1845, d Jan 13, 1914). Family legend is that William was a medical doctor who went to the California Gold Rush and struck it rich. He went by way of the Horn, but never returned. Sarah was supposedly a Methodist minister. George and Emma were adopted (or raised) about 1852 or 1854 by a neighbor named CHAPMAN. Emma may have married a BARRETT. It's a possibility that Ford might have been shortened from Mumford or Mugford, but it was Ford on William and Sarah's marriage certificate. Does any of this sound familiar to anyone? Diane Stephens
