Gordon, I've collected a little information about the Merriam family as the result of an earlier error in which I thought I had a connection. Fortunately, I still have the material, so will share what I have. There is an Isaac Merriam listed in the "History of Cambridge, Massachusetts," Supplement and Index by Mrs. Mary Isabella Gozzaldi on page 504. The following is taken from that citation: "Isaac (Thos., Jos., Jos.) b. 5 July 1714, [m. Sarah Davis (Eleazer) at Bedf. 1 Sept. 1736; d. 19 Ap. 1741, wid. m. (2) Nathaniel Bell of Concord, d. Groton, 25 May 1799, a. 88, H. Lex.] 609 M. Adm." I have a second source: "The Ancestry of Franklin Merriam Peabody," compiled by Sidney Augustus Merriam that takes the line further back. On page 47, there is a listing for Thomas Merriam, son of Joseph and Sarah (Stone) Merriam, b. 1672. I can not verify that this Thomas is the father of Isaac, but he is the grandson of Joseph and Mary (Sheafe) Merriam. The father/grandfather sequence of two Josephs matches the Cambridge record. If this is your line, then the next generations go as follows: 1. William, b. 1564, married Sarah (?), was the son of: 2. William, d. abt 1565/66, married Alyce (?), was the son of: 3. Richard Meryham, d. 1548, married Unknown, was the son of: 4. Stephen, b. bef 1467, d. abt 1507, married Juliane (?), was the son of: 5. William, d. abt 1478, married Benedict (?). I suspect you will want to get copies of these two sources. I hope this is helpful. Pat, I read with interest your message about the Powers family. I am trying connect Susan/Susannah Perham to John Harvey in NH. I have a report that says she was the daughter of William and Susannah (Powers) Perham. Susannah Powers is said to have been born 4 April 1706, and she was the daughter of Walter Powers, Jr. Would you have any information about this branch of the Powers family? Researching the family of Nathan Kimball Clough, b Francestown 1778. That is the only info I have except that Nathan's family was relatively prominent in NH. He graduated Dartmouth 1806 (they have no more info than I have), studied law and was admitted to NH Bar, but by 1810 he was in Portsmouth, OH (not NH!). Any help most appreciated. Sincerely, Ellen Bisson (Note: Good NH name, eh? - my husband's family is from Coos; he and my son are both UNH grads; and my own family, the Knowles family, settled in Hampton ca 1635.)

According to "The Drake Family of New Hampshire," N.H. Historical Soc., 1962, at pg. 145, Hannah BROWN was the wife of Jeremiah BERRY of Pittsfield, N.H. They married on 12/1/1814 in Rye, N.H. Jeremiah was born in Rye on 2/7/1791. They were the parents of Abbie E. BERRY, who was born in Pittsfield, N.H., about 1831. Was this Hannah BROWN born in Hollis, N.H., on 3/31/1794, to Eliphalet and Sarah BROWN? Hello, I am searching for information on the Gray family of Mason, New Hampshire. My information states that Dr. Joseph Gray died in Mason in 1812 or 1815. His son, Dr. Henry Gray, was born in Mason in 1783 and later moved to Vermont. Any information on this family would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Ann Dennis
Can someone please tell me what County/State I should be looking for the early Land Records of Hillsboro Co. NH?? The earliest I can find for Hillsboro is 1771+ and I know that some of the families I am interested in had land BEFORE that time in the area. Interested in the area's of: Phelm, Warner, Hollis, Hudson. Was this part of MA prior to 1771 or another country???? Thanks, Jayne jaymccarley@prodigy.net
