    1. Re: [NHHILLSB-L] Proctor and related families.
    2. Pat Thomas
    3. My sixth greatgrandparents lived in Hollis on Proctor Hill which was named after Moses PROCTOR, according to some resources I have read. Moses PROCTOR and Mary BYAM had five children. I have basic information on my fifth greatgrandparents, Moses Junior and Ruth AUSTIN, although always interested in more particularly on Mary BYAM or Ruth AUSTIN/ASTIN. The one person that interests me is their daughter Rebeckah, she was living with Moses PROCTOR Junior, he married Ruth and they had their first child in September of 1786, Moses 3. Rebeckah PROCTOR was born 15 April 1744 in Hollis. She was 42 in 1787 living with her brother, his wife and young son. Joseph Crossman, a fortuneteller came to court her one winter night, stayed late, maybe overnight and they were married the next day 17 January 1787 in Hollis. They lived briefly in his cottage down the lane from her brother Cyrus in a poor part of the town called "The City". The resulting scandal brought her and Joseph to flee to Boston where they were not heard from again. I wonder if anyone has more information on Joseph and Rebekah, I would imagine that they might not have had children but who knows. I am glad to share whatever I have and am interested in adding to my Proctor information. 2. Gail Brown
    3. I'm looking for the parents of Betsey (Elizabeth) Boyd Patterson, who married Daniel M. Clark, 5 March, 1799, New Boston, Hillsboro Co. NH. One genealogy sent to me recently indicates they were Robert Patterson and Betsy Furgason, among whose other children were Peter and William; however I found in New Boston Town Records, FHC film #0015366, the following entry: "Robert Paterson & Margerett Livingstone were married Dec. 26th, 1766 - William Paterson son of Robert Paterson & Margerett his wife was born March 19th 1767. John Paterson son of Robert Paterson & Margerett his wife was born June 1 1769. Mary Paterson daughter of Robert Paterson & Margerett his wife was born November 12 1773. *Betty (Betsy?) Boyd Patterson was born Septmeber 18 1773. David was born Dec. 18 1777. Margerett was born May 27 1780. Peter was born June 18 1783." I'm inclined to believe the town records over an unproved genealogy but wonder if anyone knows these families. I'm including another PATTERSON listing found in the town records: "Robert Patterson and Susanna Miller was(sic) married June the 24th 1773 Peter Patterson son to Robert Patterson & Susanna his Wife was born April the 12th 1774 Peter Patterson son of Robert Patterson and Susanna his Wife Died August the 30th 1777 Mary Patterson Daughter to Robert Patterson and Susanna his Wife was Born July the 28th 1776 Rachel Patterson (Daughter to Robert Patterson and Susanna his wife) was Born January the 8th AD1779 John Petterson Son of Robert Petterson and Susanna his Wife Was Born May the 23rd 1781 Grisel Petterson Daughter to Robert Petterson and Susanna his Wife Was Born June the 17th 1783." This fits well with the Robert Patterson and Susanna Miller of the genealogy sent to me, but I do have questions about the other Robert. Was his wife Betsy Furgason? Margerett Livingstone? Or did he marry both women? Was there still another Robert Patterson? Betsey and Daniel Clark's children were Sarah Holmes, Betsy, Jane Barnett, William, Robert Patterson, David, Nancy Stinson, and Bradford. If any of these are familiar, please let me know. Thanks, Gail

    1. [NHHILLSB-L] O'Briens in Nashua after 1883
    2. Candy_B
    3. I have located much info on my direct ancestors who are buried at St. Patrick's in Hudson, but have come upon a mystery. In the family plot, along with her parents, Edwin Marnes and Doralta O'Brien, is _Mrs._ Genevieve M. O'Brien, died July 26, 1962, age 81. I visited the cemetery briefly last year on the hottest day of the year and was unable to fully walk the cemetery, but found several other O'Brien plots. Question 1: Did Genevieve marry a "cousin" or just another O'Brien? Her family was not originally from NH, but went there from Clinton Co., NY around 1884. The combined O'Brien/Marnes plot contains about 16 of my relatives, including some of Genevieve's descendants. There is also another Marnes plot listed on the plot plan within about 2 rows of the O'Brien/Marnes plot, but did not realize it was on the plan until after I had left the area :( so never got to check it for other possible family members. Question 2: Is there anyone on the list who is related to this family? I have a lot of info to share and would love to locate descendants of either Doralta O'Brien Marnes' family or the descendants of her brother James, b. 1855, NY, and his wife Lucy Fleming, b. Canada. I have a death certificate for a son of James and Lucy (Patrick L.) who died at age 1 in 1884. I also have birth and baptismal info for a daughter of theirs (Mary Frances) b. April 11, 1885. These 2 particular lines are the ones that I have the least information on at this point. The siblings that I have info on to date are: Martin Henry, Angela Bridget, Mary E., David Edward (my g grandfather) Ellen E., Bibiana F., and Mary Regina. I know that Mary Regina became a Sister of the Holy Cross (Sister Mary of the Nativity), and was at the St. Francis Xavier Convent in Nashua in the late 1930s and early 1940s after having taught in several schools in NH and MA. Doralta was the only daughter who married. All except Martin, James and Mary Regina are buried in the family plot at St. Patrick's along with their parents, Patrick O'Brien and Ellen Brown O'Brien. TIA for any help with this family. 3. Hi I have a Hugh Kilday who was naturalized in 1875. His papers state he resided in Manchester, New Hampshire. He was 32 years old. Is there someone who could look up the census records for 1870. He had a wife Mary and a child John born 1864. This is confusing because the child was born in Manchester but the parents resided in Shirley, Massachusetts. Did New Hampshire do state census as Massachusetts did.. example 1855, 1865 etc. Thank you for any help. Ann

    3. I recently ordered and reviewed a microfilm of the Derryfield/Manchester town records (film #0015362). I found some interesting and relevant information, but the film was very difficult to read. Does anyone know whether a printed version has been produced? I've had to skip entire pages because of a lack of legibility, and I'd love to see a transcribed copy. Can anyone help me on this? I'm interested in the time period before 1800 in particular.

    3. Hi all, Trying to find a family for one of the COLBURN wives: William 4 COLBURN (William 3, Robert 2, Edward 1) was born in Concord, 5 Dec 1726, married Abigail WHEELER, 26 July 1757. Abigail is the daughter of George WHEELER; she was born 6 Feb 1727. William and Abigail resided in Hollis, NH. This information is from the Genealogy of Edward Colburn. I have been unable to document this WHEELER family as there are just too many Abigails and Georges for any type of certainty. Does anyone have any thoughts on which WHEELER family this might be and who Abigail's mother was? Thank you. Janice E. Haynes Green Valley, AZ jehaynes@dakotacom.net
