I've been searching for information on my husbands ggrandfather, Robert C. Knott, supposedly born 1852 in Weare, NH; died in Springfield, MA in 1908. Robert C. married Mary Chamberlain in Manchester, NH in 1881. When I tried to get a copy of his birth certificate, I was told they had none. I have the marriage certificate and it states Robert's parents were Charles and Eliza J. Knott. Now is where things get curious. According to family information, Charles Knott married Eliza Jane Noyes Flanders in 1850 in Henniker, NH. This part is documented in "The Flanders Family From Europe to America". But in the book they list the first born as Robert Moore Knott, b. 1851. This Robert married Julia M. Kezer in 1878 in Francestown. When I tried to get a copy of this Robert's birth certificate, I was told they had none. (He was also supposed to have been born in Weare.) I do have a copy of his marriage certificate to Julia. This one does not list parents names. I have not been able to track down Robert Moore Knott and Julia after their marriage date. However, both marriage certificates state these are first marriages. I had thought maybe it was one Robert who married twice (within 3 years) but if I'm to believe the certificates, a second marriage is then ruled out. My thoughts are that there is either two sets of parents named Charles and Eliza J. Knott in the Henniker/Weare/Manchester area OR both Roberts were born to one set of parents who named them with the same first name (has happened), but then why wasn't Robert C. listed in the Flanders book? OR like I originally thought, one Robert who married twice. Sure do wish I could have acquired those birth certificates!! Other children to Charles and Eliza Jane Noyes Flanders Knott are: Elizabeth J. b. 1854; m. Thomas Howlett Georgie A. b. 1855 Thomas b. 1857 Susie J. b. 1860 Mary J. b. 1862 (these children were born in Henniker) Any suggestions and/or ideas on how to prove the parentage of these two Roberts? What would you do? I apologize for having a long query, but it needs to be explained. :-) Linda Whittaker Knott LilBitGal2@hotmail.com http://www.geocities.com/heartland/prairie/5868 England (Lincs, Notts, Dorset)WHITAKER,PINDER,PICKWORTH,KNOTT U.S.:WHITTAKER,LOVE,WEST,CHAPIN,MALOTT,COMSTOCK,ELLIS,FERGUSON KNOTT,GOODWIN,AVERY,CLARK,EVANS,MOCK,ROCHFORD,ALVEY ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com

Hi listmembers, I have been reading this list since the beginning but I haven't sent in a query. So here goes! I am looking for information on the family of Ephraim Drake, born 1751 s/o of William Drake. Ephraim was born in Mass but moved to Amherst as a young man and married Hannah Melendy there about 1772. They had five children and then Hannah died in 1793. Ephraim remarried in 1794 and had five more children, including my ancestor Stephen Bradley French. I have found Ephraim's second wife's first name, Abiah, but I can't find their marriage or her maiden name. Ephraim died in Amherst about 1834. If any of this seems familiar to you, please let me know. Shirley French Drake

Hello to all, We are now working on putting together my wife's Beale-Corriveau family. Would someone on our list have a current alumni listing for June BEALE, of the class of 1963 or 1964, Manchester Central High, Mona's only cousin on that side of her family. Have been trying for months to locate her. Please reply to <High.Seas@breezy.com> and we thank you very much for your help with this. Bob & Mona (Beale) Jackson ---- Hampton, NH
I am stymied in a search for Lydia SPAULDING who married William TARBELL in Mason, NH Dec 17, 1812. Wm. died in Exeter in 1825 and Lydia moved to Milford where she reportedly stayed with her sister-in-law Azubah who was married to Col. Benjamin Hutchinson. Did she ever remarry? When did she die/where is she buried and who were her parents? I hope that someone on this list can answer any or all of these questions. I grew up in Milford and have walked all of the cemeteries without any luck.Hopefully. Ed Tarbell Cheyenne, WY etarbell@worldnet.att.net
To All: Am trying to locate my MARSHALL ancestors who were in Hudson, Nottingham West area of NH prior to 1790. I have recd. some information that I hope may help me in locating them and where they were from. Martha "Polly" MARSHALL m. Stephen BARNARD 1791, Pelham, NH. New information leads me to think that Martha may be the daughter of: Benjamin MARSHALL b. abt. 1740, Ipswich, MA m. 14 May 1754 Chelmsford, MA to Elizabeth (Betty) FARWELL b. abt 1736 Dunstable MA d. 13 Aug 1823 Dunstable, MA. Reported children: Martha and Henry Farwell MARSHALL. Benjamin possibly the son of a Edmund MARSHALL??? Elizabeth the dau. of Henry FARWELL b. 14 Oct 1696 and Esther BLANCARD b. 24 JUL 1699 Dunstable, MA. Another link connecting these families: Henry Farwell MARSHALL m. Abigail POLLARD, the dau. of Ebenezer POLLARD b. 4 Dec 1728 Dunstable, MA and Abigail WINN b. abt 1727. There daughter, Abigail married James the son of Stephen & Martha (Polly) MARSHALL BARNARD. Does anyone have anything on MARSHALL, FARWELL, POLLARD, WINN families that can verify or disprove this. jaymccarley.prodigy.net

Barbara, I cannot answer your question about Richardon records in Litchfield, NH, but I can point you in the direction of an answer. I recently ordered a microfilm from LDS of the town records for Litchfield. The condition of the records is poor, but it does include tax lists and some vital records information. I seem to recall there was a lot of Richardson information, but I can not be sure. The film number is #0015204. I would encourage you to check it out. Oddly, the older records are toward the end of the film, so don't be misled when you first scan it.
