Hi List, Sorry if you have already seen this message on another list. I received this message from the president of our genealogy society and thought I would pass it along. It does explain what all those little numbers mean you see at the end of some obits. Hello Hillsborough, NH County Researchers, I have just updated my website for Mason, Hillsborough Co., NH to include pages for early FLAGG and RUSSELL families. You will find many records there and will be of interest to anyone researching these surnames. As always, corrections and additions are welcome. Hi Sherry, You really made my day! Thank you so much for the Gould info. Just recently I discovered that Maj. Daniel Gould and his wife Dorcas were the parents of my Daniel Gould and his wife, Sarah Clark, so for you now to tell me that Dorcas was a Phelps is an important addition. And then to learn that George and Mary Giles Gould were parents of Maj. Daniel Gould - wonderful. We visited Centre Cemetery in Lyndeborough 2 summers ago and copied names of all of the Gould's there without knowing all of the relationships. Maj. Gould's parents are buried in the plot with him and his wife as are some children of Maj. Gould. You were interested in the Edy Gould ( b. Dec. 29, 1779) information that you had listed in your e-mail to me. Actually her name was Eda Gould and she was married to Daniel Conex and she is also buried in that cem. The stone was "Erected in memory of Mrs. Eda Gould Conex, wife of Daniel Conex, dau. of Maj. Daniel Gould & Dorcas, his wife, who died Oct. 2, 1811, the 33rd year of her age" (Eda is a name that was passed on to my great grandmother too.) So glad to go back another generation with Thomas and Abigail (Needham) Gould too! If you want any of the other Gould info from that cem. just let me know. Many thanks!!! Priss

If you are not interested in a paid service, you may want to delete this message now. I will search the Soundex (the index to the Census) for your ancestor in the 1880, 1900, 1910 or 1920 Federal Census for *ANY* state requested. (Note that the 1910 Soundex is only available for the following 21 states: AL, AR, CA, FL, GA, IL, KS, KY, LA, MI, MS, MO, NC, OH, OK, PA, SC, TN, TX, VA, and WV. The 1880 Soundex only includes households with children age 10 and under, and no records are available for 1890.) If the search is successful, you will receive a form which includes all of the information found in the Soundex. In addition to the family's place of residence, the following information will be listed for each family member: name, age, month and year of birth (1900 Soundex only), birthplace (state or country), relationship to head of household, and citizenship. (Other details included in the complete Census record, such as occupations, whether owned or rented, literacy, etc., are not included.) Simply provide the following information (numbered as below, please) for each search: 1. Census year (1880, 1900, 1910 or 1920). 2. State (include county and/or town, if known). You must specify the state in which to search, as there is a separate Soundex for each state. 3. Soundex code for surname (see below). 4. Name of head of household (include state or country of birth and date of birth, if known). 5. Name of spouse (include state or country of birth, and date of birth, if known). 6. Names of children or other family members expected in the household (include state or country of birth and dates of birth for each, if known). Please provide full names, if possible, as individuals are often listed by initials or middle names. The birth information is important too, as it will help to identify the correct family. If you do not know the Soundex code for the surname, use the conversion program at this site: http://events.genealogy.org/soundex.html The fees for searches are as follows: 1: $2.50; 2 to 3: $5.00; 4 to 6: $10.00; 7 or more: please inquire for pricing. This is a great offer .Especially for those of us that are soundex impaired. I am looking for information form the 1880 census of Barry co. Michigan for the Hart surname. I believe that there may be a Samuel Hart listed , a Joshua Jr. or maybe a Chancey Hart. Any help is appreciated. If you need an Indiana look up I may be able to help you out . This a for pay offer that has been circulated to almost all the lists I am on. Just so you are aware this is not a volunteer effort. It is fine to charge for your research services/lookups (I also do this in another state) but I question this method of advertising. I did not think that this was allowed on Rootsweb? Kathy Karn
Hi Priscilla, >From the History of Lyndeborough, NH I found the following on pg. 754: Maj. Daniel Gould, son of George and Mary (Giles)Gould, born at Salem, Mass. Nov. 26, 1749; married first, Dorcas Phelps. She was born 1749; died, April 6, 1797; married second, Mary, daughter of Jacob Hook of Kingston, NH. He died March 5, 1804. He owned the farm now known as the Richardson place at the center. He kept a tavern there for many years and all the children wee born there. We have no further record of this family except the dates of births of their children:- 1. Susanna, b. April 17, 1766. 2. Mehitable, b. Feb. 25, 1778. 3. Edy, b. Dec. 29, 1779. 4. Jared, b. March 16, 1782. 5. Daniel, b. March 19, 1784. 6. George, b. Jan 22, 1788, d. Nov 17, 1804. 7. Jacob S., b. Aug 21, 1793. The previous page gives data on George as the son of Thomas and Abigail (Needham) Gould, b. 1706 at Salem, m. 20 Apr 1732 Mary Giles, probably of Salem. She b. 1710 and d. 2 Mar 1797 at Lyndeborough. He d. same 29 Apr 1783. They had eight children all born at Salem, Mass. George was descended from Zaccheus. We believe my husband's ancestry is from Gould's in the Greenfield NH area, which is next door to Lyndeborough. I am interested in any information on the Edy Gould given above. Our known ancestor is: EDWARD R GOULD was born 18 Mar 1861 in Knoxville, TN (Source: Date: Grave Marker in Greenfield, NH Loc: Birth/Marriage Certificates for Elmer Gould), and died 22 Aug 1896 (GS) in Hillsboro/Hillsborough, NH (Source: NHVR). He married BELLE STARRETT 10 Oct 1882 (Source: NHVR), daughter of DAVID STARRETT and SARAH BIXBY. They are buried in Greenfield, NH where Edward lived when he came to Hillsboro and married Belle. He was in 1891, Listed as Conductor B&M RR, residing at Hillsboro Bridge. Children of EDWARD GOULD and BELLE STARRETT are: i. WALTER F. GOULD, b. 28 May 1886, Wilton, NH; d. Bef. 1923. ii. DAVID H. Hi Sue, Neither the 1830 nor the 1840 census will show all the household members - just the head of household, with age breakdowns for males and females. The 1850 was the first census to list all household members, so that would be your best bet to find him, except that he would still be a bit young (b. 1831/32) to be the head of a household. I do have the 1850 census index, and there were over 100 RICHARDSONs in just Hillsborough Co. - no telling how many in all of NH (I didn't check). There are 3 Williams - p. 280, New Ipswich; p. 139, Mt. Vernon; p. 89, Manchester, and one William P. - p. 186, Milford. Perhaps you can find someone with easy access to the census microfilm for 1850 NH, to check these entries. Most large libraries have the microfilm, or it can be ordered through an LDS Family History Center. In fact, if you have an FHC not too far from you, that may be your best bet - NH town records are on microfilm, so it's possible you might find his birth registered. I find your Canada/NH connection interesting since my ggggrandfather Daniel CLARK took his family to Ontario, Canada, around 1816/17, disappearing from Hillsborough Co. tax rolls 1816, but reappearing on Sullivan Co. NH tax rolls in 1829. Have you looked for him in Canada yet? There's a mail list for Niagara region, where someone might be able to help. You can find the list from http://www.rootsweb.com/~maillist/ or visit http://www.multiboard.com/~spettit/ongenweb/ Basic genealogical advice is to start with what you know and work backward, so you may need to accumulate more data on him before you can find his parents. And, yes, it is often much like trying to find a needle in a haystack. Sometimes you even get lucky and find it! Hi, Would anyone have access to either the 1830 or 1840 census for New Hampshire? I am trying to see if my grgrgrandfather was actually born in NH or Canada. According to the 1860 VT census, it states he was from Canada. On the death certificate of my grgrandfather, it states his dad was born in NH. This is the info I have on the man. I do not have his parents names. William R. Richardson b. 1831/32 NH or Canada d. unknown m. unknown (possibly in Ontario, Canada) sp. Charlotte Todd b. 1834/35 in Canada I know it is not a lot of information to go on but I was hoping to find him somewhere in NH. I am guessing he may have been in one of the Northern counties as he moved into Canada. It is a needle in a haystack. Sue macduff@citrus.infi.net

Sue, There are two cemeteries on West Hollis Street. One is on the east side of Route 3, between West Hollis Street and Kinsley St - it is Woodlawn Cemetery. The other is on the west side of Route 3 on West Hollis Street (aka Route 111) heading west toward Hollis (makes sense :-)). The latter is called St. Louis de Gonzague Cemetery. I pass it a few times a month and never knew its name until you asked. I don't know who takes care of the records there, but if you come up empty, let me know and I can ask around. I live about half an hour from there. Laura Prescott Duffy Brookline
Hi, Can anyone help this faltering memory. It has been about 35 years since I was in Nashua. Is the St. Louis cemetery the same one as the large cemetery that was on West Hollis Street? I am trying to go through the back door through the wife to track down the death of the husband. My mother knows that the wife was buried in the St. Louis cemetery. I will gladly pass on what info I have if you can be of any help finding the records of the cemetery. I know there is a large monument with the wife's name on it. I was also hoping to find a very old newspaper clipping of the death so I can both use census records and see if he was still alive when she died. I know it rambles a little but thank-you for any help you can give. Sue macduff@citrus.infi.net
Hi, I am trying to do some research for my mother. She is trying to find the Death and Burial (if possible) of Amable Boisvert. Any help on this will be appreciated. This is what she had to say about him. "I don't know about the death and burial about Amable except that there is a large monument in the cemetery in Nashua where it is written that Zoe is buried there along with some Godin. The inscription on the monument just says that Zoe the wife of Amable is there but nothing about him except his name. It does mention a Godin but no other name. The cemetery is St. Louis. " This is all the scant information I have. Thank-you Sue macduff@citrus.infi.net Amable Boisvert b. abt. 1822 Canada d. ???? m.
