It is with broken hearts that the family of the late MONICA V. SLANEY of Spanish Room announces her passing. Monica passed away at the U.S. Memorial Health Care Centre in St. Lawrence on Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at the age of 81. Leaving to mourn with a lifetime of wonderful memories are her husband, Hugh of 58 years; sons, Hugh (Pauline) of Marystown, Andre (Thelma) of Spanish Room, and Edward (Lisa) of Marystown; daughters, Geraldine (Robert) Roul of Winterland, Rose (Greg) Tabler of Hay Lakes, AB, and Bernadine (Leon) Pollett of Marystown; 15 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; brother, Gordon (Lucille) Brake of Spanish Room; sister-in-law, Mary Jo Brake of Marystown; plus a large circle of extended family and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Ambrose & Elizabeth Brake; brothers, Vincent & Bernard Brake; sister, Louisa Slaney; and parents-in-law, Joseph & Mary Slaney. The Slaney Family will be accepting visitors at Wiseman’s Funeral Home in Marystown on Thursday, August 23rd from 1:00 pm to 9:00 pm; and Friday, August 24th, from 10:00 am to 9:00 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, Marystown, on Saturday, August 25, 2018 at 10:30 am. Interment will follow at St. John Bosco Roman Catholic Cemetery, Spanish Room. In Monica’s memory, donations may be made to the U.S. Memorial Health Foundation flowers gratefully accepted.
