The Cape Breton Post, August 13, 2013 Dorothy Melita (Drake) Mills Born In: Lally Cove Passed in: Sydney/Louisbourg Passed on: August 12th, 2013 With profound sadness we the family announce the peaceful passing of our dear mother, Dorothy Mills on Monday, Aug. 12, 2013, in the An Cala unit at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney surrounded by her loving family. Born in Lally Cove, Newfoundland, she was the daughter of the late John and Ellen (Matthews) Drake. She was a member of St. Bartholomew’s Church and the ACW of St. Lawrence's Church, Belleoram, N.L. When she wasn't travelling, hanging out with the gang at the Rock Elm Senior Citizens Complex or enjoying time with her family, Dorothy loved to knit, tackle Find-a-Word puzzles and tap her foot to Newfie music. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Dorothy is survived by her children, Mary 'Polly' Bucciarelli, Linda Mills and Ellen Ruth (Ronald) McCann, all of Montreal, Cathy (Wayne) Magee, Sydney River, Sherry (Dave) Perfetti, Ottawa, Conrad (Alma) Mills, Brickyard Road, Sam Mills, Louisbourg, Doug (Kelly) Mills, Alberta; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson; daughter-in-law, Liz Mills; son-in-law, Rev. Harold Brown, as well as many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Conrad Mills, (1989), daughter, Doris Brown, son, Raymond Mills, son-in-law, Nicola Bucciarelli, three grandchildren in infancy, brothers, George in infancy, George, John 'Jack', Charles, Bill, Launce and Murdock. Visitation will be held Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2013, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at St. Bartholomew’s Church, Louisbourg. A funeral service will take place 11 a.m, Thursday, Aug. 15, 2013, at St. Bartholomew’s Church, with Rev. Harold Brown officiating. Interment to follow in the church cemetery. In memory of Dorothy, donations may be made to the Palliative Care Unit, CBRH. The family would like to thank Dr. Greg Myatt and Dr. A.F. D'Intino for their wonderful care over the years and, of course, the outstanding staff of the An Cala Unit, for all the kindness and compassion they offered during Dorothy's hospitalization.
