The Cape Breton Post, August 21, 2013 Rita Young Born In: Spruce Brook Passed in: Howie Centre Passed on: August 19th, 2013 It is with broken hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Rita Young on Monday, Aug. 19, 2013, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Spruce Brook, Newfoundland, she was the daughter of the late Herbert and Dorothy 'Dot' (Gabriel) Rose. She was employed at the Tasty Treat for many years until her retirement. Rita lived for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, she will be missed. Rita is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Raymond; her children, Richard (Berthann), East Bay, Perry, Sydney, Della Young, B.C., Ted (Melanie), Fredericton, N.B., Sheila (Sheldon) Martin, Howie Centre, Cory (Angela), Sydney; her wonderful grandchildren, Crystal, Amanda, Ashley, Jessica, Kayla, Chelsea, Jaden, Nicky, Shiloh, Kerissa; her precious great-grandchildren, Hannah, Shyanne and Leland. She is also survived by her six sisters, seven brothers, as well as many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her daughter, Judy Ann, one sister and three brothers. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held Thursday, Aug. 22, 2013, from 9-10 a.m. at the S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney, with a memorial service to follow at 10 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Fr. D Deveraux officiating.
