The Chronicle Herald, Halifax, December 7, 2013 Daniel Joseph MacDonald(February 3, 1929 - December 5, 2013) MACDONALD, Daniel Joseph – 84, of Fall River, passed away peacefully on December 5, 2013, in the Palliative Care Unit of the Victoria General Hospital, Halifax. He was born in Port au Port, NL. He was a son of George and Simone (Chretien) MacDonald. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Mary (Matthews); daughter Ruby (Jack) Brenton, Coldbrook; Gerry (Susan) Dartmouth; Danny (Karan) Eastern Passage; daughter in-law Maureen, Middle Sackville, eight Grandchildren and three Great Grandchildren. He is also survived by brothers; Karl (Carol), Ottawa; Ken (Mim), BC; and sisters; Genevieve and Jean, Florida; Julie (Frank), Oregon; Margaret (Barry), Belleville. Sisters-in-law Cora (Edward) and Joan. He was predeceased by his son, Ian; sisters Myra, Kay, Blanche, Harriet and brother; (Augustinian Brother) Gratzia. Dan served 25 years in the RCN from 1951 to 1976; he also worked as a Stationary Engineer with DND for 13 years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus (St. Rose of Lima) Fall River, and a member of the Fall River Seniors group. Dan was a devoted Blue Jays fan and loved to play cards. He enjoyed traveling and spending time with family and friends. A special thanks goes to Dr. Rayson and his nurse Helen. Visitation will be held at St Rose of Lima Church, 9 Jamieson Drive, Fall River on Monday from 6-9 pm. Funeral mass will be held at St Rose of Lima in Fall River at 10 am on Tuesday, December10th, Father Duncan McMaster officiating. Reception to follow service. Interment to take place at Dartmouth Memorial Gardens. Family flowers only. Donations may be made to St Rose of Lima Church or charity of your choice.
