    3. Theresa and Bud were neighbours of mine for many years and dear friends of my mother, who was also from Newfoundland. Bud died last fall; Theresa died a few days ago. The term special friends in the obituary means they were common-law, having lived together for more about 30 years after their spouses passed away. Theresa Mary Evens: (October 19, 1917 - January 15, 2017): Passed peacefully away surrounded by her loving family at St. Patrick's Mercy Home on Sunday, January 15, 2017, age 99 years, formerly of Daniels Point, Trepassey. Predeceased by her husband, Ray of Minnesota, United States, and special friend Bud Humphries, of Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia, parents William and Josephine Tobin, sister Mary, brothers Michael, Jer and sister-in-law Magellan (O'Neill), George Tobin and brother-n-law Albert Waddleton. Left with loving and special memories are her sister Irene Waddleton, sister-in-law Eileen Tobin, special niece Donna, numerous relatives, nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews and a large circle of friends. Theresa was a loving and special lady who loved life and was very proud of her family and her life's work. A baker of the very best homemade apple pie, and fantastic sewer, she will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Very special thank you to the nurses, doctors and staff of St. Patrick's Mercy Home for their exceptional care, compassion and kindness. Cremation has taken place with no visitation at Theresa's request. Funeral mass is scheduled for Sunday, January 22, 2017 at Holy Redeemer Parish, Trepassey 11:30 a.m., with inurnment to follow at Holy Redeemer cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation, the Dr. H. Bliss Cancer Centre or a charity of one's choice. To sign the guest registry, or to send a message of condolence, please visit http://www.cauls.ca. BENJAMIN FORBES HUMPHREYS (BUD): On September 7, 2016 at 85 years of age at the Georgetown Hospital. Buddy was born in Pictou, Nova Scotia on February 17, 1931 one of 5 children of the late Emma and Benjamin Humphreys. He left behind his lifelong friend Theresa Evans, and daughters Lisa and Fern (husband Ross, grandchildren Kyle and Shaela). He is survived by sister Myrna Carew (husband Bayne), sister Miriam Travis (husband George) and predeceased by older brother Keith and younger brother Gerald. Bud loved the Maritimes, a culture rich in music, dancing and great friendships. He was an enthusiastic square dancer and talented musician and member of the Metro Fiddlers in Halifax that played at hundreds of events throughout Nova Scotia, including for Queen Elizabeth during her last visit. He loved to sail and created wonderful memories with his daughters Fern and Lisa on the shores of PEI sailing each summer. As an electronic technician, Bud worked for many years on navigational equipment on Royal Canadian Navy ships. Bud survived many illnesses and his family would like to thank the staff at Mountainview Residence in Georgetown, Ontario where he was a favourite and spent his last days. We will hold a Celebration of Bud's life at COLE HARBOUR FUNERAL HOME (1234 Cole Harbour Road, Cole Harbour) at 11 am - 12:30 pm on Saturday, Sept 17, 2016.
