It is with great sadness that the family of the late RITA M. POWER of Mortier announces her passing at the U.S. Memorial Health Care Centre in St. Lawrence on Saturday, February 11, 2017 at the age of 97. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are sons, Kevin Power (Gladys Nolan) of Mooring Cove, Pius (Clara) Power of Fox Cove, Jim (Doris) Power of Topsail, and Patrick (Florence) Power of Little Bay; daughters, Veta (Patrick) Antle of Fox Cove, Doris (Leonard) Pearcey of Ottawa, ON, and Carrie Gaudet of Grand Barachois, NB; 26 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren; plus a large circle of relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Pius Power; parents, Thomas and Ellen Power; daughters, Mary (George) Butler, and Sheila Power; son-in-law Gerald Gaudet; sisters, Gertie, Rose and Theresa; and brother, William. The Power Family will be accepting visitors at Wiseman's Funeral Homes in Salt Pond, Burin, on Sunday, February 12th from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.; and Monday, February 13th from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. from St. Patrick`s Roman Catholic Church in Burin. Interment will follow at the Roman Catholic Cemetery in Fox Cove. In Rita's memory donations may be made to the U.S. Memorial Health Care Foundation.
