The Chronicle Herald, Halifax, December 22, 2018 Edward "Ted" Howse Of Middle Sackville, formerly of Wesleyville, N.L., peacefully passed away December 16, 2018 at the age of 66 in QEII Health Sciences Centre, Halifax. Left with lasting memories are: Marilyn, his wife of 46 years; sons, Duane (Amanda) of Middle Sackville; Christopher (Genevieve) of Ashburnham, Mass.; and the prides of his life, his grandchildren, Abby (and her mom Tracey), Avery, Caroline, and Lucas; brothers, Richard (Marjorie), George (Marion), Geoff (Cheryl), Roger (Rhonda), Paul; sister, June Sheppard (Roll); sister-in-law, Joyce; as well as a large circle of family and friends. Ted was predeceased by his parents, George and Mary Howse (Wesleyville, N.L.); brother, Perry; and infant sister, Patricia. Edward Howse, known to his friends and family affectionately as Ed or Ted, enjoyed a long-lasting career in the mining industry in various roles as a millwright, shovel operator and training department. He worked for IOC in Labrador City, N.L. for 32 years before retiring, but he could not shake the mining bug before coming back out of retirement to go work for Voiseys Bay and eventually Grey Rock Mining to finish off his career. Edward made his final home in Middle Sackville, but his heart was always in Wesleyville, N.L., where he had his camper, it was his own little piece of Heaven on earth. Edward touched a lot of lives in more ways than he ever realized, with his humor, kindness, and humanity towards others. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and all his Tim Hortons coffee buddies.
