The Cape Breton Post, February 3, 2014 Carmel Anderson Born In: St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada Passed in: North Sydney on: February 2nd, 2014 Carmel passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, February 2, 2014 after a brief illness. Carmel was born and raised in St. John’s Newfoundland one of eight children of Fred and Bernadette Molloy. Carmel moved to Cape Breton as a young woman with her late husband, Ronald Anderson. Following Ron’s untimely death in 1970, Carmel resumed her career at Marine Atlantic in North Sydney while raising a young family. Carmel was an active volunteer with the North Sydney Food Bank and the Canadian Cancer Society. She also gave her time freely to her many friends and neighbours. Carmel enjoyed the beauty of Cape Breton, particularly time spent at her cottage in Ross Ferry, a community she was proud to be a part of. She was an avid gardener and a skilled bridge player. She appreciated life’s simple pleasures and was happiest outside and in the company of her many treasured friends, especially Marilyn and Alex Gilchrist Carmel was predeceased by her parents and her husband, as well as her brother John Molloy and sisters Mary Daly and Alice Taylor; brothers-in-law Gerald, Jim and Harry Anderson, Albert Daly, Bill Morrissey, Bill Taylor, and Bill Comeau. Carmel is survived by her daughter Donna (Bert Currie) North Sydney; her son John (Denise Gallant) Sydney; grandchildren Andie Currie, Johnna Johnson (Matt), Ben Currie, Jennifer Anderson, and two great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Adrian Molloy (Bertha) Calgary, AB. and sisters Margaret Morrissey, St. John’s, NL., Maureen Treslan (Dennis), St. Johns, NL. and Sheila Comeau, Bedford , NS.;brother–in-law, Lloyd Anderson, Corner Brook, NL.; sisters-in-law Lorraine Anderson, Port Aux Basques, NL., Maureen Anderson, Kingston, NS., Maxine Anderson, Manuels, NL. and many nieces and nephews. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, February 5, 2014 at 11a.m. at St. Joseph Church North Sydney with Rev. Vern Boutilier and Rev. Patrick O’Neill officiating. No visitation by request. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the VON Cape Breton or the Hospice Palliative Care Society of Cape Breton. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of W.J.
