The Chronicle Herald, Halifax, November 13, 2018 Starratt, Ella "Mae" Age 89 of East Chezzetcook, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 9, 2018 in The Birches in Musquodoboit Harbour. Born in Brooklyn, N.L., she was the daughter of the late Alonzo and Belle (Skiffington) Stares. Mae was a little woman with a big personality. She loved her friends and family with her whole heart, she worked hard, and she put 110 per cent effort into everything she did. She was loved by everyone who knew her, and she touched many lives; during her years working as a PCW at The Birches, as well as being an active member in her community. She loved music, darts, a game of crib, and a good cup of tea. She is, and will always be, dearly missed and very lovingly remembered. Mae is survived by daughters, Myrna (Dave Hall), West Petpeswick; Inez Leslie (Terry), East Chezzetcook; brothers, Bob Stares (Effie), Newfoundland; Huey Stares (Sheila), Newfoundland; Mike Stares, Ontario; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Murray; son, Sandy; brothers, Dave, Henry and Jack. Cremation has taken place. Celebration of Life will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, November 15th in St. Barnabas Church, 40 East Chezzetcook Rd., Rev. Evelyn Knorr officating.
