The Chronicle Herald, Halifax, October 25, 2018 Meaney, Ronald J. Age 89, of Parrsboro, and formerly of Calgary, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. Born in Harbour Grace, N.L., he was a son of the late Dennis and Mary (Lamb) Meaney. Ron was Chief Financial Auditor of Veteran's Affairs Canada retiring in 1989. He is survived by his children, Danny, Ottawa; Mary Jane "MJ" Hammer (Bob), Calgary; Steve (Glenda), Parrsboro; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; four step-grandchildren; 11 step great-grandchildren; a step great great-grandchild. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Dorothy "Dot" Whitten in 2005; siblings, Frank, Doris, Agnes, Gordon, Gerald, Clotilde, Jack, Kevin, Catherine, Eileen. Funeral service will be held at 12 noon on Friday, October 26th, in St. Brigid's Catholic Church, Parrsboro, Father Craig Christenson officiating. Reception to follow in St. Brigid's Church Hall. Burial will take place in Calgary with his loving wife at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada, Atlantic Division.
