The Chronicle Herald, Halifax, September 25, 2018 Hutchinson, Bonnie Lynn(Cameron) The family, with great sadness, announces the passing of Bonnie Lynn Hutchinson of Cole Harbour, in Dartmouth General Hospital on Thursday, August 16, 2018. Born February 14, 1951 in Oshawa, Ont., she was the daughter of Shirley Clarke (Abriel) and stepfather, Russell Clarke of Pope's Harbour and Little Bay East, N.L. At a young age, Bonnie lived in Little Bay East, Fortune Bay, N.L. At the age of eight, she moved to Dartmouth, McNabs Island with Nan Power. Bonnie attended school in Eastern Passage Shearwater and graduated from Dartmouth High School in 1969. Not having any money to go to university she applied for a summer job with the Department of National Defense at the age of 18 years. She was hired as Sky 2 (typist) at Boson School, Windsor Park, Halifax. Later, in 1974 she moved to Ottawa to National Defense Headquarters as secretary to Construction Engineering Canadian Forces. She moved back to Halifax in 1978 and started to work at Maritime Command Headquarters Dockyard and served as secretary for two admirals. In 1984, she moved to Maritime Air Group and was again secretary to Chief of Staff(visits and ceremonial 2nd Air Operations Fixed Wing). In 1987, she moved to Civilian Personal Dockyard as Administrative Assistant to Human Relations Officer; retiring from the public service in 2005, S-90 HMCS Stadacona Halifax. After retiring, to keep busy she worked part-time for Treaty Gas and Cole Harbour Place. After full retirement in 2005, she volunteered her services for the Canadian Forces Veterans at Royal Canadian Legion Centennial Branch 160, serving as treasurer and secretary. Along the way, Bonnie made a lot of friends and travelled to a lot of places in Canada and the USA with her best friend and husband Terry, living her life to the fullest. Bonnie was a strong, independent woman who loved to help others to believe in themselves. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 24 years, Terry; and her brother, Sheldon Clarke; adopted sister and girlfriend, Jan Galipeau (Pat); adopted nieces, Julie (Frank), Joanna (Andrew); stepdaughters, Tanya Hutchinson (Rob) and grandchildren Catie, Rylie and Liam; Sara Hutchinson (Jeff) and grandchildren Jessica, Traci and Tiana; Amy Hutchinson (Jamos), Taiwan; and Amanda Hutchinson (Stephen), Sydney, Australia; special best friends, Jil Trowsse, Evie Cole(Dave), Patty Gofton (Bobby), Gary Irvine (Tanya); Little Mom...Jessie Geddes, Don Brooking and her many friends at Branch 160 RCL. Bonnie has requested no visitation or funeral service. She was a very private person and would like you all to remember her as a kind, thoughtful, caring person who dearly loved the veterans. She wishes her body to be donated to Dalhousie Science to help others. Donations in Bonnie's memory may be made to Royal Canadian Legion Centennial Branch 160 (Project 100 Fund) or to Dartmouth General Hospital (Start building fund). Our gratitue to the doctors and staff of 3 East Dartmouth General, Dr. Dan Rayson (oncologist) and staff of Dixon Centre, Dr. Allison Wiebe (family doctor) and staff of Dartmouth Medical Centre. You all helped Bonnie live longer and gave her the best support possible! We all appreciated everything you did for her. A Celebration of Life and Legion Tribue will be held in Branch 160 on September 29th at 2 p.m., and interment will take place at a later date.
