It is with broken hearts that the family of the late John J. Drake of Long Cove – Burin, announces his passing. Mr. Drake passed away at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre in Burin on Saturday, September 22, 2018 at the age of 76. Leaving to mourn with a lifetime of wonderful memories are his wife, Sarah of 57 years; sons, Isaac (Christine) Drake of Burin, Elvis (Heather) Drake of Burin, and Sheldon Drake of Paradise; daughters, Rosella Drake of Burin, Elsie Drake (Curtis Green) of Burin, Loretta (David) Bourden of Paradise, Maryann Drake (Wayne Sinnott) of Gould’s, Elizabeth Drake of Burin, Nancy (Steve) Garland of St. John’s, and Stella Drake (Gary Warren) of Burin; 16 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; sisters, Bernice (Don) Davis of Burin, Emaline Courage of Burin, and Lillian (Gerry) Penton; brother, Kevin (Florence) Drake of Burin; sister-in-law, Frances Drake of Burin; close family friend, Joseph Hollett of Burin; plus a large circle of extended family and friends. John was predeceased by his parents, John Joe & Loretta Drake; brothers, Gerald Drake and William (Nellie) Drake; and brother-in-law, Stephen Courage. The Drake Family will be accepting visitors at Peninsula Funeral Home, Creston South on Sunday, September 23rd from 1:00 pm to 9:00 pm; and Monday, September 24th from 10:00 am to 9:00 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church in Burin on Tuesday, September 25th, 2018 at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at the Roman Catholic Cemetery, Fox Cove.
