The Chronicle Herald, Halifax, July 11, 2016 Mary Veronica Clarke(June 14, 1923 - July 8, 2016) Clarke (Pretty), Mary Veronica – age 93 years of Dartmouth, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on July 8th, 2016, at the Halifax Infirmary. Born in St. John’s, NL, she was the oldest daughter of Harold and Margaret (Hollihan) Pretty. Mary enjoyed making bread, cooking, and gardening and loved her dogs, Lisa and Mindy. She is survived by her loving husband of 73 years, George Guy: children George (Elizabeth) of Beaver Bank, John of Dartmouth; grandchildren Sean, Mary Aube (Scott), Michael (Pam), John (Ashley), Joanne McDowell (Robert); 12 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter; Sister Yvonne Hickey, of Lethbridge, AB. She was predeceased by infant son Guy and infant daughter Mary, Brother Lawrence, sisters Betty Jeans and Francis Mercer, daughter-in-law Donna. There will be no visitation by request. A graveside service will be held Tuesday, July 12th at 2:00pm at Dartmouth Memorial Gardens, officiated by Rev James Haughn. Family flowers only, donations can be made to a charity of your choice.
