The Chronicle Herald, Halifax, July 9, 2016 Marjorie Boyce(December 28, 1921 - July 7, 2016) Boyce (Rowe) Marjorie Ivany Pearl - 94 of Dartmouth, has, in her own words, gone to Heaven on Thursday July 7, 2016. Born in Seldom Come By, Fogo Island, Newfoundland, she was the 11th of 13 children born to the late Jessie and George Rowe. Marjorie loved and cherished her husband, sentiments which were returned in abundance. She loved being a full-time mother to her three sons which continued to the end, never shy to offer advice and criticism. She later enjoyed her part time job at Sears in Halifax and the friends she made there. Mom greatly prized her Moira Street home and her friendly neighbours. She has been a lifelong member of Stairs Memorial United Church. During her mid-life years, she was a member of her neighbourhood bowling team. Marjorie enjoyed gardening (especially her lovely roses), reading, knitting, crocheting, going for walks, boat rides and just being with her family. She cherished being a Grandmother to her two granddaughters, especially throughout their childhood years. Marjorie is survived by one brother, Jack in Seldom Nfld.; sons Gordon (Joyce) Dartmouth; Austin (Cynthia), Dartmouth; Richard (Shirley), Porters Lake; Granddaughters Tanya (Adam) and Tracy (Jennifer) and Step Grandsons Christopher and Shawn. She also had special nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. In her later years, Marjorie greatly enjoyed the annual summer visits from her nephew, Lloyd Yarn (Winnipeg). We would like to extend our sincere appreciation to Beatrice Laybolt and her mother Olive who took such loving care of our mother in their home during the last few weeks. Also we would like to express our thanks to Jessie DeBaie for her help and support and the staff of Twin Oaks Memorial Hospital for the exceptional care our mother received during the last days of her life. Marjorie has gone to reunite with her beloved husband, Captain Ronald Boyce (1978). She will also join her brothers, Wesley, Frank, John, Victor, Lloyd, Gregory and her sisters, Florence, Mildred, Eloise, Maggie and Vera. She has left behind many wonderful memories for family and friends to enjoy. A memorial service will be held 1pm Wednesday July 13 at Stairs Memorial United Church 44 Hester Street, Dartmouth, with a reception to follow in the church hall. Miss me a little but not too long, And not with your head bowed low; Remember the fun we shared, Miss me but let me go.
