The Chronicle Herald, Halifax, October 19, 2016 Melvin Joseph Robia(November 18, 1956 - October 14, 2016) It is with great sadness and heart break that we, the family of Melvin Joseph Robia, announce the passing of our loving husband, father, brother, uncle and dear friend. Melvin passed away peacefully on October 14, 2016 at the Digby General Hospital surrounded by his family. Born November 18, 1956, in Cape St. George, Newfoundland, he was the son of the late Harold and Madonna (Jesso) Robia. Melvin was a fisherman for over 25 years and loved being on the water. His biggest joy in his life was his family. He married his darlin Mary (Murphy) and after 40 years she remained his best friend and companion. Melvin's pride and joy was his baby girl, Madonna Forrester (McKaine), the bond between them was special and everlasting. He is survived by his sisters, Valerie Martin (Gary), Lisa Campbell (Benny), and his brothers Harold (Venecia), Oliver (Ann), Bernard (Sharon) and Syris (Michelle). His brother and sister in-laws, James Cooke (Bev), Valerie Simmons (Jack), Cecilia Ridgley, William Murphy (RoseAnne), Gerald Murphy (Sylvia), Robert Murphy (Debbie), Michael Murphy (Cheryl), Gordon Murphy (Laura), Kathleen Beswick (James) and predeceased by Clifford Murphy and Maureen Hearn, and his many nieces and nephews. Melvin was a man of few words but what he lacked in words he made up for in kindness. His beautiful blue eyes and photo perfect smile would light up the room. Memorial Service will be held on Thursday October 20, 2016 at J.A. Snow's Funeral Home at 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax, N.S. at 2:00 p.m. Though your smile is gone forever, and your hand we cannot touch, still we have so many memories of the one we loved so much, your memory is our keepsake, with which we'll never part, God has you in his keeping, we have you in our hearts.
