The Cape Breton Post, September 24, 2016 Donalda Walsh We the family of Donalda Alice Walsh announce her passing into the loving arms of our Lord on Friday, September 23, 2016. Donalda passed away peacefully at the age of 89 yrs at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney. Born in Fogo Island, NL, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Catherine (Dwyer) Walsh. Everyone knew Donalda as a spirited woman with a great devotion to her faith who along with her organizational skills, was one who although involved in many projects, and with various organizations at any given time, always successfully managed to get all completed. She was a prior member of Immaculate Heart Parish, Mira Road, and then of St. Marguerite Bourgeoys Parish. She held president’s positions with the Immaculate Heart CWL, was a member of their parish council and oversaw their religious education program. Donalda was also with the Sisters of Charity for 45 yrs. She held a Phd in Resource Education and was instrumental in formatting the first Resource program in New Waterford. She was supervisor of Special Education for the Cape Breton Victoria Regional School Board for many years until her retirement. She is survived by her brothers, Augustine (Vivian) Walsh of Sydney Mines, Joseph (Marita) Walsh of Jacksonville, Florida, best friend, Fr Everett MacDow, good friends, Theresa Doucette and Heather Burdge as well as her many nieces and nephews. Donalda was predeceased by her sister, Geraldine MacNeil and brothers Thomas and Michael. Visitation for Donald Walsh will be from 3-5 pm & 7-9 pm on Monday, September 26, at T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2 pm on Tuesday, at St. Marguerite Bourgeoys Church with Fr. Everett MacDow officiating. Interment in Holy Cross Cemetery, North Sydney.
