The Chronicle Herald, Halifax, October 31, 2018 Hunt, Gloria Mae After a courageous battle with cancer, Gloria Mae Hunt, age 61 of Belle Cote, passed away peacefully on October 28, 2018 in Sacred Heart Community Health Centre, Chéticamp. Born in Boswarlos, N.L., she was a daughter of the late Harold Martin and the late Greta (Jesso) Martin. Gloria will forever be remembered for her kind spirit to everyone she encountered throughout her life. Gloria is survived by her husband, Wade Hunt; son, Joseph (Tanya) Hunt, South West Margaree; daughter, Tracy (Dion) Hillier, Cambridge, Ont.; sisters, Wanda Hoskins, Sandy Harvey, Paula Martin, all of Newfoundland; grandchildren, Rebecca, Wilson and Brandon Hunt, Daniel and Dylan Hillier; special aunt, Rita Companion, Newfoundland. Born in Isle Aux Morte, N.L., she was a daughter of the late John Thomas and Harriett (Wells) Harvey. Her life was spent unselfishly dedicated to caring for her family. Her children could expect a call from her daily wondering what we were up to as well as checking in with her grandchildren. She loved cooking and hosting family suppers and having her family over to enjoy them with treats on hand for her great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her sister, Ida Lillington (of Isle Aux Mortes, N.L.). She is survived by her constant companion and husband of 61 years, Willoughby; daughters, Cindy (Wayne) Baker, Porters Lake; Sylvia (Dale) Leckie, Dartmouth; son, John (Faith) Keeping, Truro; grandchildren, Jason (Sara), John (Kelly), Dale (Jessica), Samantha, Nicolas, Sean, Jeffrey (Kelly) and Dylan (Haley); and great-grandchildren, Zachary, Chloe, Aidan, Sebastian and Aubrie. She will be missed by all who loved her. A special thank you to the staff and volunteers of the VG Palliative Care Unit who provided such compassionate care. Son of William Newhook of Botwood, and Sarah Newhook, (Ralph) of Hampden. Predeceased by brother, Floyd; and sister, Adella. Survived by sisters, Aleta, Halifax; and Ruby, Rodickton. Murdock was a member of the Armed Forces serving in the RCN (Bosns) for 25 years. Retiring as Petty Officer 1st Class, he then served 15 years in the Auxiliary Navy in Halifax. He is survived by his wife, Frances (Kieley); children, James (Edna), Barbara Dejong (Darryl), Shawn (Tammy), Freeman Cull (Glenda). He is also survived by his grandchildren, Natasha, Sabrina, Kyle, Kristopher, Kody, Scott, Stephanie, Christine, Jessica, Nicole, Hollis, Terri-Lynn, and Alison; as well as 14 great-grandchildren. On Friday, November 2nd from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m., a Celebration of Life will be held in Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main St., Dartmouth, NS B2W 3T9. Born in Seal Cove, Fortune Bay, N.L., she was a daughter of the late Alexander and Madeline (Collins) Bungay. Flora's family meant everything to her. The love for her children and grandchildren was endless. We always knew how much she loved us. Flora loved a good game of cards, listening to her country music (George Jones) and watching her Toronto Blue Jays with Harold. Flora worked for 20 years at the VG Hospital up until her retirement. She is survived by her daughter, Madeline (Brent) Daley; sons, Harold (Mary), Alexander; grandchildren, Matthew (Myra), AJ (Liz), Alexandra (Brad), Jacob; great- granddaughter, Haidyn; sister, Irene (Fred) Sisulak; brothers, Alexander (Fern), Jim (Lisa) as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins, in particular, Max (Ena) Loveless. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her loving husband, Harold "Hank"; brothers, Tom (Marilyn), Don (Shirley); sisters, Muriel and Edie. The Chronicle Herald, Halifax, October 29, 2018 Abbott, Rufus Baker Age 76, passed away peacefully in Bonavista Peninsula Health Centre on October 21, 2018 surrounded by family. Rufus is survived by his wife and best friend of 55 years, Joyce; daughters, Michele (Bob), Tanya (Peter); grandchildren, Jacob, Kent, Olivia, Hannah and Bobby Joe. He is also survived by brothers, Alonzo (Dale) and Dan (Geraldine); sisters, Christine (Harry) and Marion (Melv); as well as many close cousins and numerous nieces and nephews. Rufus was predeceased by his parents, Wallace and Mable Abbot; birth mother, Eupheima Crewe; beloved sister, Velma Wells. Born in Elliston, N.L. January 17, 1942, Rufus was involved in the Sea Cadets before heading off to St. John's to study. He received a Certificate of Proficiency in Radio in December 1961. He worked as a Radio Operator with the Department of Transportation in Newfoundland and Nova Scotia for several years. Rufus then moved on to work as a Radio Technician with the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) in Halifax for over 30 years. Rufus volunteered with Feed Nova Scotia for 17 years, enjoyed many nights of music and dancing with Joyce at the Newfoundland Club, and loved a good game of cards. He loved wood carving, enjoyed camping and travelling with family and friends and loved spending time with his precious grandchildren. Rufus always had a smile on his face and loved to chat with everyone he met. He will be forever missed by a large circle of family and friends in Newfoundland, Nova Scotia and beyond. Thanks to the staff at St. Clare's Mercy Hospital and Bonavista Peninsula Health Centre for the wonderful care he received. Donations can be made to Parkinson Society Maritime Region.

She was an avid reader and loved people wherever she worked or lived; she had many close friends who loved her.
