Daniel passed peacefully away at the Health Science Center in St. John’s on December 5, 2018 at the age of 65. Leaving to mourn with cherished memories are his wife Marion of 44 years; son, Stephen (Victoria); daughter, Krista Ennis (Jim); 3 much beloved grandchildren, Maria, Natalie and Ryan; his mother Adele Cheeseman; brothers, Norbert (Susan) and Charles (Minda); sister, Josephine; mother-in-law Blanche Myles plus a large circle of extended family and friends. Daniel was a lover of music and had a natural gift for playing a variety of musical instruments, including guitar, accordion, mandolin and banjo. He frequently volunteered his talent to entertain at venues such as seniors homes. An avid sports lover, he also throughout his life gave generously of his time coaching minor hockey and softball. His friends and co-workers will remember him not only for his volunteering and music but also for his sense of humour, and his practical jokes. He will forever be missed for his deep love for family, his bright endearing smile, his piercing blue eyes, and lust for laughter. Born in Lady Cove, N.L., he was a son of the late Rubin and Annie (Jenkins) King. Ross had served with the Military Police in the Canadian Armed Forces for 25 years, with postings at several military bases across Canada and overseas. He later worked as a counsellor in the detox unit at Kings Regional Rehabilitation Centre and for 30 years owned and operated his own hobby farm growing vegetables. Ross was an avid curler and was a past member of Markland Lodge No. 99, A.F. & A.M., Kingston and the Philae Shriners. Surviving are his wife of 30 years, the former Elizabeth M. The Cape Breton Post, December 03, 2018 Monday Harbin, Harry Bernard - 92 yrs Passed: November 30, 2018 It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Harry Bernard Harbin, age 92, our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, on Friday, November 30, 2018 at the Northside General Hospital, North Sydney. Harry was born in St. John's, Newfoundland on August 29, 1926, he was the son of the late Andrew and Martha (Street) Harbin. Harry was veteran of the Second World War serving with the Merchant Marine. He was employed as a chief steward abroad the C.N. Marine vessels until his retirement in 1985 after 43 years of service. He enjoyed a wonderful 33 years of retirement. He was an avid reader, an active member of St. Matthew Wesley United Church, a master mason and member of the Royal Albert Masonic Lodge and a Past President of the Cape Breton Shriners. Harry married the love of his life, Ruby (Farrell) in 1949, he was gentle loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather and was the heart of a very large, loving family. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Harry is survived by his wife, Ruby Harbin; his ten children, Brenda (Jim) Cook, Wayne (Betty) Harbin, Donna (Brian) Smith, Harry (Wanda) Harbin, Judy (Robert) Mahar, Ruby (Pat) Juchli, Edith (William) Penny, Darlene (Michael) Long, Andrew (Beth) Harbin and Jeff Harbin; 24 grandchildren, Nicholas, Andrew, Peter, Daniel, Michael, Jennifer, Heather, Adam, Sean, Ian, Rodney, Laura, Billy, Steven, Michael, Jason, Shana, Jordan, Joshua, Tiffany, Mary Beth, Matthew, Hannah and Emily, also by 30 great-grandchildren.
