The Chronicle Herald, Halifax, July 17, 2013 Bernadette "Dot" Mary Lamrock (October 1, 1929 - July 14, 2013) LAMROCK, Bernadette Mary “Dot” - 83, of Villagedale, Shelburne Co., passed away on July 14, 2013 at the Roseway Hospital, Shelburne. Born in St. John's, Newfoundland on October 1, 1929 she was the daughter of the late John and Mary Hayes. Dot loved gardening and flowers. She also loved being surrounded by her family and friends, sharing a good laugh which she greatly enjoyed. She is survived by her husband, Stanley Lamrock; daughters, Lynn (Robert) Lamrock, Barrington; Lori (Shelden) Wallace, Middle Sackville; Jennifer (Stephen) Lamrock, Villagedale; brother, Richard (Nellie), St. John's, Newfoundland, and a number of nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her brothers, John and Michael; sisters Kathleen and Eileen. Cremation has taken place. There will be a memorial service on Thursday, July 18 from the Villagedale Union Church, Villagedale, at 7 p.m., Rev. Brad Pass officiating. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Roseway Hospital Palliative Care Room or a charity of your choice. The Chronicle Herald, Halifax, July 17, 2013 Smith, Paul – 78(February 12th, 1935 - July 10th, 2013) , Truro, formerly of NL and ON, passed away on July 10, 2013 in the Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Paul was born and grew up in Jeffrey’s, NL. He trained as a Stationary Engineer in St. John’s. Paul married Sandra Luscombe (Badger, NL) in 1962. He then moved to ON in 1963 where ultimately Paul worked for many decades with Atomic Energy of Canada and Ontario Hydro (Pickering Nuclear G.S.). Paul is predeceased by his late wife of 40 years, Sandra (2002). He is survived by his daughters, Anne Mansfield (Dick) and Lois MacPherson (Cliff); his grandsons, Myles and Ben MacPherson and granddaughter, Alexandria Mansfield and wife, Barbara Kittilsen (nee Hulan), Truro, NS. One of Paul’s true passions was fishing and upon retirement, he enjoyed going on many fishing trips. In 2008, he remarried and settled in Truro, NS. Many close friends and neighbours from church and community attended a brief prayer service in memory of Paul. Burial will take place at a later date in Ontario. The Cape Breton Post, July 17, 2013 Wilfred Collis Born In: Fortune Bay, Newfoundland and Labrador on: December 20th, 1930 Passed in: North Sydney on: July 16th, 2013 With heartfelt sadness we, the family, announce the sudden passing of Wilfred Collis, 82, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother on Tuesday, July 16, 2013, at his residence. Wilfred was born on Dec. 10, 1930, on Brunett Island, Fortune Bay, N.L, the son of the late Richard and Suzannah (Mullins) (Baker) Collis. Wilfred was employed by the Newfoundland Railway and later CN Marine Ferry Service, where he worked his way up to Chief Steward. He finally came ashore as cost controller with CN Marine until his retirement. Wilfred was a member of St. John the Baptist Anglican Church. He was past master of the Royal Albert Masonic Lodge #19, North Sydney where he received his 50-year Jewel in 2012. He was also a member of the Lodge of Perfection, Valley of Sydney and the Keith Sovereign Chapter of Rose Croix, receiving 15-18 degrees. He was also a member of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite, NS Consistory, receiving 19-32 degrees. Wilfred was inducted into the Shriners Phelae Temple, Halifax, in 1977 and was a member of the Cape Breton Shrine Club. He was a past patron of the Munroe Chapter #26 O.E.S. North Sydney. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Amelia (Baker) Collis; his two sons, Richard (Heather), Big Bras d’Or, Barry (Brenda), Dartmouth; and daughter, Annette (Charlie), Sydney Mines; his grandchildren, Genevieve, Sean, Adam, Diane, Shannon and Cassie and four great-grandchildren, Zander, Easton, Nadia and Nolan. Also surviving are his brothers, Jim (Phyllis) Baker, Sydney, and Leonard (Pat) Baker, Rencontre East, and a number of nieces and nephews. Wilfred was predeceased by his brothers Edwin Collis and Hubert Baker. Visitation for Wilfred will be held 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., Thursday in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Friday at St. John the Baptist Anglican Church with Rev. Carl Fraser officiating. Burial will take place at Lakeside Cemetery, North Sydney. Beulah was predeceased by husbands William Bowser and John Ben Anstey; brothers Wilson Hickman and Morgan Hickman; sisters Jane Bowness, Edith Hickman, Ada Hickman, Margaret Hickman and daughter in law Glennis Bowser. It is with great sadness that the family announces the sudden passing of Rick on Thursday, July 11, 2013. Born in Corner Brook, NL, he was the cherished son of Bert and Polly Payne. Petty Officer First Class Rick Payne of HMCS Preserver served as a Stoker in the Royal Canadian Navy for 35 years. Rick loved the outdoors, especially hunting with his father, riding his motor-cycle, flying his airplane and travelling the world on his many adventures. Doting father of Nicole and Stacy; brother of Vicky (Wayne Holwell), Penny (Rick Parsons), and Karen Hussey; uncle of Alicia and Dusty, and great-uncle of Brooklyn. Rick leaves behind his many treasured friends Ronnie and Agnes, Bill and Anna, Skip and Trina, Zita, Colin and Karen (Sally) and honorary grand-boys Ryan and Owen, Claude and Dale, Paul and Karen, Sherry-Lynn, Melinda and Moe, and Gina. Rick is pre-deceased by the love of his life, his wife Carmel. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Cole Harbour Funeral Home, 1234 Cole Harbour Road. Cremation has taken place. Eva (born 27 April, 1922) was one of 16 children born to Agnes (O’Neill) and William Martin of Harbour Grace, N.L. She dedicated her life to her family and will be remembered for her great sense of humour. Her children hold many precious memories of the summers spent at Crooked Lake Road beach, Framboise. Eva is survived by three children, Bridget Fitzgerald, Timberlea, Dauphinee (Ron) Gaida, Alberta, and Joseph also from Alberta.; 11 grandchildren, Carolann, Wendy, Sharon, Brian, Denise, Breton, Karla, Allan, Ashley, Roland and Jennifer; 22 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild as well as sisters, Aggie, Saskatchewan, Annie, Newfoundland, and Gladys, Sydney. She was predeceased by her husband, Charles in 1997, three children, Charlie, Charlene and Howard, sisters, Nell, Theresa, Marguerite, Kathleen, Gertrude, Maureen, Shirley and Eileen, and brothers, John, Alf, Leonard, Andrew and Walter. We celebrate the fact that her suffering has ended, she leaves us with a legacy of loyalty and unconditional love. Born in Bell Island, Newfoundland, she lived in Boston, New York, and Toronto before settling in Montréal for life. Predeceased in 1960 by the love of her life, James Hartt Schurman; and in 1997 by her companion of many years Norman Thomas Sparks; by her in-laws Hulbert Hartt Schurman and Leola Schurman (nee Paige) with whom she shared many happy times and special moments; by her parents John and Johanna Dwyer (nee Kelly), her brothers Vincent, William, Frank and Peter; her sisters Mae (Maude), Mary, Annie, Kathleen, and Lillian. She leaves in mourning her daughters, whom she loved to call the ‘light of her life’, Elizabeth Schurman (Daniel Camus) of Paris, France, and Isabel Schurman (Bernard Grenier) of Montréal; her beloved niece Madonna (Donna) Dwyer of Brossard, Québec; her cherished granddaughters Emma Caroline Schurman-Grenier and Julia Rose Camus; her sisters Isabel (the late John Morris) and Doris (the late Jack Cobb); her sister-in-law Jenny Dwyer; her brother-in-law Kevin O’Neil; and so many nieces and nephews to whom she was their greatly loved ‘Aunt Dolly’.
