Jackie Simms Meikle The Chronicle Herald, Halifax, November 25, 2013 Alexander Roberts(1922-2013) ROBERTS, Alexander - Age 91, passed away peacefully in the Halifax Infirmary QEII on November 23, 2013 with loved ones by his side. Born September 9, 1922 in Pushthrough, N.L. he was the only son of the late Nathaniel and Florence Roberts. He immigrated to Canada from Newfoundland in 1944. Alex was involved in the fishery all of his life, as a Captain on many fishing vessels including long liners, draggers and fisheries research vessels. He endured harsh, cold weather and rough seas in order to provide for his family. He loved to bake for his family, especially big loaves of Newfoundland bread and enjoyed the dances at the Newfoundland Club. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his daughter, Audrey (William) Brewer, Meagher?s Grant; sons, Clarence (Sheryl), Middle Musquodoboit and Raymond (Sara), Halifax; grandchildren, Dwayne, Kim, Annette, Mark, David, Angela, Kerry, Kelly and Melissa; fourteen great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews. He will also be missed by his special friend Mary Warren. He was predeceased by his wife of 44 years, Minnie Alice (Piccott). Sincere appreciation to his grandson Mark and partner Dale Brewer for the love, care and attention they provided to Alex during the past year. Cremation has taken place under the care of J. A. Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Road, Spryfield, where visitation will take place on Wednesday, November 27, 2013 from 10-11 AM followed by a service of remembrance at 11 AM from the funeral home chapel. Interment will take place in St. James Cemetery, Herring Cove. Donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or charity of choice.

The Chronicle Herald, Halifax, November 26, 2013 Richards, Barbara Langmead – 86(July 3, 1927 - November 22, 2013) of Dartmouth, passed away Friday November 22nd, 2013 at Dartmouth General Hospital. Born in St. John’s Nfld., She was the daughter of the late Frank and Minnie Warren. Barbara worked for the Royal Bank in St. John’s, Cornerbrook, Saskatoon and Halifax. She is survived by her husband, Arthur; daughters, Janet Richards, Halifax, Rosalind (Randy) Richards Mann, Saskatoon; son, Geoff Richards, Saskatoon; brothers, David Warren, Collingwood, Ont., Frank Warren, St. John’s Nfld., grandchildren, Lisa, Curtis and Ryan; several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Barbara was predeceased by, sisters, Helen, Sybil, Joyce and Judy; brother, Roger. There will be no visitation by family request. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday November 28th at Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main St., Dartmouth. Reverend James Haughn officiating. Interment will follow in Dartmouth Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory may be made to the Victoria Order of Nurses.

Born February 4, 1966, in Stephenville, Nfld, he was the son of Jack and Florence ‘Monty’ (Montgomery) MacLean. Brian enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, and the many enjoyable years working with the Spicer family at Spicer Construction. Brian was a long serving volunteer fire fighter with the Bridgetown fire department. He enjoyed spending time with his numerous friends and their families, and the many wheeling trips with his buddies. We loves his hugs, bright eyes, wonderful smile, and marvelous sense of humor. Love you so much. He is survived by his parents; daughter, Vanessa (Adam) Hutchinson, Aylesford; son, Bradley, Bridgetown; grandchildren, Colin and Lola Hutchinson, Aylesford; sister, Catherine Ashby, Bridgetown; brother, Craig (Nancy), Beaconsfield; maternal grandmother, Orell Montgomery, Tyne Valley, PEI; Many aunts, uncle, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Predeceased by partner, Beverly Leslie. ALLAN JOSEPH COADY (1957-2013) Passed peacefully away, surrounded by his loving family, at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre on November 24, 2013 , Allan Joseph Coady at the age of 56 years. Predeceased by his parents John Patrick and Christina Coady, brother John Patrick Coady (Jr.), sister-in-law Sheila Coady and brother-in-law William Mayo. Leaving to celebrate his life with fond memories are sister Bernadette (Dennis) Dwyer; nephews John, Jeffrey and Jerry Dwyer; niece Judith (Dwyer) Hurley and their families. I've found the following reference to be a good starting point in some of my searches for definitions: http://conolyclan.com/forms/definitions.pdf It contains lists compiled by Daniel H.
