She will be missed by everyone, but especially by Katharine to whom she was both Grandmother and Mother. Bride was born in Rocky Harbour, NL, the daughter of Salvation Army Captain William and Ida Payne, and while she spent most of her adult life in Gander, Rocky Harbour was her home. Her connection to home remained strong and she loved to return to Rocky Harbour for the annual Payne get-togethers. Born in Bishop’s Falls, Newfoundland, Jessie was a daughter of the late William and Annie (Locke) Bennett. She was a member of the Pentecostal Church in Sydney and active in the women’s ministries of the Church. She worked for a number of years for Northern Electric and the Parker Fountain Pen Company in Ontario. She is survived by her two sons, David (Sonya) Hawkins, Athabasca, Alberta, and Paul (Cindy) Hawkins, Lawrencetown, N.S.; her grandchildren, Carolina, Joshua, Aletia, Crystal and John Hawkins; great-grandchildren, Kallie, Summer, Lauren. She is also survived by a number of stepchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her first husband, Gordon Hawkins, and her second husband, Norman Warr, her sister, Daisy Fry, and brothers, Roland and Hubert Bennett. Visitation for Jessie will be held from 7-9 p.m., Friday in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. Funeral service at 2 p.m., Saturday in the funeral home chapel with Rev.
