    1. Re: [NL-ROOTS] Burin Peninsula Obituary (Appleby)
    2. Diane Tibert
    3. Thank you, Harold, for sharing this obituary. This is my mom's cousin. She didn't know he had passed away. Diane Diane Tibert Fowl Summer Nights is about a retired Canada Post worker whose husband has passed on and she's left with an empty nest. Her children tell her to get a hobby, so she does—one that drives her neighbours crazy. Coming this March: a story that will make you laugh out loud...Fowl Summer Nights Check it out: http://quartercastlepublishing.com/books/humour/fowl-summer-nights/ Take a drive down Shamo Drive and see Mrs. Vorwerk at her mailbox. If you stop to talk with the decrepit widow, look out for flying teeth. A little further down the road is Angus Mills. He’s your typical widower with a backyard pool, rose bush and a love for spying on old women. Squished between these two experienced elderly pensioners is Mildred Fowler. Unlike her neighbours, Mildred hasn’t yet mastered the art of being a retired widow. Given her spunk and passion for life however, she’s bound to stir up a little trouble in the community of Welsummer when armed with the proper determination. > From: hgrandy@nf.sympatico.ca > To: NFLD-ROOTS@rootsweb.com > Date: Sun, 9 Mar 2014 12:17:33 -0230 > Subject: [NL-ROOTS] Burin Peninsula Obituary (Appleby) > > > > Jerry Appleby (November 4, 1951 – March 7, 2014) > > Passed away suddenly on Friday, March 7, 2014, at the Health Science Center in St. John's, Jerry Ralph Appleby at the age of 62 years. As a coach, he encouraged excellence in his players, not just in sports but in their education and personal lives. George was Operations Manager of Steed and Evans (Maritimes) Limited for the last 25 years of his career. In his retirement he savored spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren. He was his grandchildren’s biggest fan, no matter what sporting or musical event. He has always been an unfailing supporter of his immediate and extended family.
