Theresa and Bud were neighbours of mine for many years and dear friends of my mother, who was also from Newfoundland. Bud died last fall; Theresa died a few days ago. The term special friends in the obituary means they were common-law, having lived together for more about 30 years after their spouses passed away. Theresa Mary Evens: (October 19, 1917 - January 15, 2017): Passed peacefully away surrounded by her loving family at St. Patrick's Mercy Home on Sunday, January 15, 2017, age 99 years, formerly of Daniels Point, Trepassey. Predeceased by her husband, Ray of Minnesota, United States, and special friend Bud Humphries, of Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia, parents William and Josephine Tobin, sister Mary, brothers Michael, Jer and sister-in-law Magellan (O'Neill), George Tobin and brother-n-law Albert Waddleton. Left with loving and special memories are her sister Irene Waddleton, sister-in-law Eileen Tobin, special niece Donna, numerous relatives, nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews and a large circle of friends. Theresa was a loving and special lady who loved life and was very proud of her family and her life's work. A baker of the very best homemade apple pie, and fantastic sewer, she will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Very special thank you to the nurses, doctors and staff of St. Patrick's Mercy Home for their exceptional care, compassion and kindness. Cremation has taken place with no visitation at Theresa's request. Funeral mass is scheduled for Sunday, January 22, 2017 at Holy Redeemer Parish, Trepassey 11:30 a.m., with inurnment to follow at Holy Redeemer cemetery. Bud loved the Maritimes, a culture rich in music, dancing and great friendships. He loved to sail and created wonderful memories with his daughters Fern and Lisa on the shores of PEI sailing each summer.
