In that same year, a teacher Gideon Way was sent by Methodist Society of England to teach the children of Bloomfield and Musgravetown. Mr Way was originally a blacksmith by trade from Bonavista. He became not only the first teacher but also the Lay Reader. He held Bible classes in the School as well as Day Classes. (Anna Belle Peddle is 85 years old in 2002).
