BARNES, Laura Jane (nee Burton) September 17, 1903 - August 3, 2003 - Passed peacefully away at the Hoyles-Escasoni Complex on Sunday, August 3, 2003, Laura Jane Barnes, aged 99 years. Predeceased by her husband Harold (1955), brothers Richard and Theodore and sister Mildred Wareham. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories her sons Ted (Violet), Frank (Helen), with whom she resided; daughter Enid (Jim Strong); sister Marjorie Burton, sisters-in-law Isabel Barnes, Florence Burton and Lilian Burton; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren as well as a large circle of relatives and friends. At mother`s request, cremation has taken place and family will be receiving visitors at Barrett`s Funeral Home, 1081 Topsail Road, Mount Pearl from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday and from 10 a.m.-12 noon on Wednesday. Christine Bennett, age 66 of Freshwater, P.B. Predeceased by parents William and Leticia Flynn, son Daniel and Aunt Catherine Lockyer; nee Greene. August 04, 2003 STURGE, Margaret (nee Rice) - After a long and courageous battle with diabetes and kidney disease, Margaret passed peacefully away on Aug. 3, 2003 at Chancellor Park where she had been resident since May 2002. Margaret was 71 years old. Beloved wife of the late Franklyn Sturge, Margaret is survived by her dearly loved and devoted son Derrick and daughter-in-law Paula. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends who shared in her life, including her sisters Marie (Mel) and Maureen, and her brother Frank (Lorraine). (Nath) age 74 of Torbay, after a courageous battle with cancer, went to join his son James who predeceased him on November 24, 2002.
